How many were made, to begin with????? market research would have come up with a number and it is great they sold out but you cannot just produce bikes in the hope that they will sell.
Exactly. Look at the car industry and why there's abandoned airports filled with unsold cars parked bumper to bumper.

I remember when I was looking around in 2014, there was a story circulating about the US head of marketing had been dismissed, after a failed campaign of forcing dealers to take addition inventory thus pushing up apparent sales to make the companies financial numbers look good. I remembered Honda's excess production of their Pacific, and checking seemed to verify plenty of available Touring, and the dealer didn't really quibble with my lowball offer.

If Triumph is like other manufacturers, "sold out" only means the factory has sold all their bikes to dealers, there are still bikes sitting at dealers.
An example I've seen of this is when the Indian Scout was introduced Indian announced early on they were sold out. My closest dealer still had 9 or 10 on the floor in August, no idea how many out back, and actually ended up offering 0% interest for 5 or 6 years to get rid of non current models.

The Swedish dealers i know of don't stock up on the Rockets. You have to order one for them to import one. Wise strategy, but annoying when you want one, preferably last week :)
I think i waited 6-7 weeks for mine, which now looking back at it wasn't that bad.

Come to think of it, my dealership said they (Triumph) won't ship a second batch before sometime this fall.

This is the way I understood it.

Let's face it guys, the 2020 model run is done and they are tooling up for the 2021 lineup. Extra time is needed for tooling to add the new rear fender, lights, pillion and full touring model complete with genuine fiberglass Triumph hard bags and a real windshield. :)
