Got a sissy bar from another member, it had holes drilled in it so he could mount other things (dont know what) I welded the holes and sanded to a metal finish. Decided to powder coat matt black on the parts I repaired (side brakets and backrest bar) and left the other part chome. I think it turned out OK

I had the sissy bar welded to the two brackets .. all one piece now. You need to be a f#ckin octopus to put the thing together without risking scratching your back guard i found. Welding it sorted that out.... yours looks pretty smick mate.

Thanks TC,
I did think of doing that too, but i wanted to keep some of the chrome. I got a quote to rechome the back rest, side brackets and side covers and it was going to cost $700, I think the powder coating for $40 was money better spent.

I got some Oval mirrors powder coated too, but the glass is wrecked, I might have to try and cut some myself, I got a quote for $145 to cut two new ones as Triumph only sell them complete.

I have done something similar with the powder coating on mine. I will have to post some pics but basically I am powder coating all the more easily removed parts and leaving the parts that are harder to remove chrome --- it is turning out really well. I have probably 5 or 6 more pieces to go at this time and I will be done with what powder coating I am going to do.

Might have to cut your loses with the mirrors mate.. never heard of anyone having any luck replacing a new mirror into the backing. Crimped in when it's made as a rule. Probably get a new set of black mirrors from the States for the $145 you've been quoted .... $700 seems like a lot to chrome those few bits ... but been many years since i've had anything chromed now that i think about it

These mirror insert were glued in!! I will try to make some, but it fails no big loss.

The powder coat looks good against the undercoat, mate. ;) When you gonna finish the paint job?

As TC says, you could probably get a set of black ovals for less than $145.
