The patient, 2005 R3 I have owned since new with approximately 31K on the clock. Of course there have been issues in the fuse box in the past, the main 30 amp fuse was long ago by passed and replaced with a wired in fuse holder outside of the box because of the engine completely shutting down after full power failure, apparently the outside fuse took care of that short since it is no longer a problem. The ignition switch died about 8 years ago and was replaced. After the bike sits for an extended period of time, ( which is basically all of the time since due to a number of reasons the bike sees very use), there is a hesitation when you push the starter button. The length of time varies, from a few seconds to up to almost a full minute depending on how long the bike is immobile. I have replaced relays, checked the entire starter circuity, checked side stand and clutch safety switches and starter button but never found the cause so I have just lived with it. So far the bike always starts. I have just resolved myself to the fact, like the owner it is getting a little "long in the tooth" and it is just an age related malady that I live with.

The new problem is I am loosing the neutral light, turn signals, and stop light on an intermittent basics. If you wiggle the fuse box it seems to solve the problem. I have checked for loose or burned wires around the fuse box and under the rear fender since the bike has aftermarket blinkers that I installed many years back, but see no visible issues. I know this sounds like a 76 year man talking to his family Doctor on a yearly visit, (I am using that analogy for good reason), but if anyone has any suggestions on tracing either issue other than the Caveman approaches I have used, please post them or PM me directly. Of course I have looked at the past threads here with similar symptoms but do not see one cure all. Thanks in advance one and all and wishing safe riding to everyone......

If you never installed the headlight relay to bypass the ignition barrel you have desoldered the ignition barrel (probably again). The 2004 to 2010 models routed 55W headlight power thru the bitty wires in the ignition barrel, causing a desoldering problem with the connections. Installing a headlight bypass relay solved the problem. Eastern Beaver has (or had) the wiring kit to do that. If it's not the ignition barrel (which I suspect it is) then you'll need a multimeter tester and a boat load of patience.

where to start
try to hold clutch in then push hard on starter button and try to wiggle it at the same time i did this to mine and has worked great for a long time.
also can let out clutch lever real slow sometimes this works on a dirty clutch switch
does the neutral light light up when the gauges there sweep and all the check lights come on ?
i would check with a 12 volt test light at the fuses to see if it lights up*** clamp goes on ground probe to each side of fuses.
might consider buying a cheap power probe considering your troubles.
