I'm sure some ingenious old fart will figure out how to use the hydraulic part for stiffening other things. Until then I'll keep using popsicle sticks, & duct tape.

Surely you meant more structural timber like ...Tongue depressors and not those flimsy little popsicle sticks?

Those won’t do anything but weaken your own stabilizing system because they are a perpetual crutch. When you are forced to use crutches you are to get off of them as soon as possible by putting your system thru rehab.
Strengthen your system instead of putting crutches for life on it.
Use it or lose it.
