second gear problems

No, I'm in a great mood; just clarifying for some of you. My post was a way for me to get my frustration off my chest; nothing more. As far as what you think about my attitude (positive or not)? Well, leave me your number and I'll call you the second I give a rats ass what you think. And, I say that with a smile on my face. :)

Well I made 2 calls to Triumph Friday, got Peter's voice mail and left him 2 messages, no resonse back! called my dealer today to see if he contacted him about my bike! no call! So I called again, this time I was told peter was not in today! and given scott's voice mail! left a message for Scott, no call back! thinkin I got a monday morning build! my chrome rear fender strut on the right side sits about 3/8 away from the fender in turn the rubber stripping constantly comes off! left side fits close to fender so stays on! asked dealer he said they vary like that! and he would put on some weather strip adhesive! kinda reminds me of the american cars from the mid 70s, fit n finish was bad in those years!

defective transmission

still no response from triumph! I continue to ride as my dealer told me! but am wondering if there are small metal shavings floating around in my engine? as second gear continually grinds/chatters or misses every time I shift! very frustrating!

Wait.. you have a fairly uncommon problem with your new bike. Your dealer called and apparently got permission from Triumph to repair your bike, under warranty I assume, since you bought it as 'new'. Your bike will be down 2-3 weeks while they
make sure to check what needs to be checked and get your bike back in order, at no cost to you.. and your pissed???

What do you think Peter is going to do? Your dealer (good people as you said) appears to be doing what they are supposed to do. My only question is why your bike is not at the dealer where they can work on it, and why are you still riding it if you feel it's unsafe?

My bike is down due to a bubble in my custom paint job that popped up a couple of years after i had it done. My bike will be down 2-3 weeks as well, but I'm not pissed.. It comes with the territory. Yes, it shouldn't have popped up, but it's being fixed correctly and I'd rather have it done right than rushed out the door.

I bought a new left over 08 (date of mfg 7/07) standard rocket from triumph of windber (good people), the day I drove it home it would not shift into second gear smoothly, ......dealer spoke to factory and they said pull the motor and take apart! bike will be down 2 to 3 weeks! I am pissed!....

It takes him a few days, but Peter will eventually call you. I gathered from talking to the receptionist that he's almost a one man show. I think it took him 3 or 4 days to call me back. Of course, I left him a message every day until he did. My dealer is VERY responsive. In fact, he's the one that suggested I call Peter.

Peter is a nice chap, btw, based on my conversation with him. I doubt he's ignoring your call, assuming you've been polite and professional about it.

yes pissed TX, cause I thought I bought a quality product! yes bike was brand new! I am still riding it because my dealer is very busy in his shop, and cant get to it until sometime in june! he told me to ride! I dont think I should have taken the bike! they new something was wrong with second gear when I drove it home! but thought it would get better with mileage! well I guess I think differently I am in business myself and I treat my customers as friends! 90% of my business comes from refferals! If I was Triumph I would have made the call! its what seperates the companies from the I dont give a d-m to the ones that care about having happy customers! I do like the Bike and wish I was not the one who got the lemon!

Hopefully your dealer will get you straightened out and on the road. To be honest, I would be upset too after buying a brand new bike, especially with the thrill the Rocket provides, and after just a short time having it break on me!..

Despite what gets posted, most Rockets are reliable though. Mine is a very early (July '04) model with 43,000+ mechanically trouble free miles on it. I would say 43,000 and counting, but it's sitting in my shop waiting on my gas tank! and yes.. I'm going through Rocket withdrawals!! I also have a Trophy 1200 to back me up, but it's just not the same.....

yeah Tx, you cant get any shorter than malfunction as you drive home from the dealer! Scott from triumph called me earlier! pretty much a sorry you had trouble lets get your bike fixed! call! he wants to see pics of my fender strut! so I am going to take a few an email him! he told me they dont manufacture any spare rocket engines! only 675 motors! I would take it he was going to call my dealer and arrange repair! so basically it was not a productive call! already know my dealer wont be able to work on my bike until mid june!
