Yes you need it to mount any windshield.

Just an update....
Parts remaining are dual seat, mudguard covers, saddlebag brackets, and stock black mufflers(for what it’s worth. Not to many folks looking to go that route)

What is the front end fixing kit and is it needed for the fly screen?

As stated already they are required for fitting either 'Fly', 'Clear Sports Fly' or 'Roadster' and the slightly smaller 'Summer' screens. There was also the 'Classic' screen that some say was taller than the current "Roadster' one but I would ask for measurements.
The factory OEM fork fixing kit consists of 4 fork clamps with threaded holes to accept the 4 bolts that hold the fairing brackets in place

There is an alternative 'fork tube' style available from an Dave Gill who has an aftermarket UK online shop Rocke's Patches or his eBay site Toyota6510 . These need to have the fork tubes removed to fit though, which may dissuade some.

Do you know if the fix kit on the fly screen is the same as the big windshield? I bought the bike with that windshield and all the hardware.

Yes, the fixing kit fork clamps are the same for all OEM factory screens for the Standard, Classic and Roadster models but NOT the 2008 on, single headlight Touring models
