I'm 6'7" and the size of the R3 was a huge draw for me. My first ride at 17 was an old Kawasaki 200. When I went to get my license endorsement, the examiner told my brother, "Looks like a grown man riding a pony." I've always found the Rocket to be a great fit.

Nah. I prefer longer intros… as you can see. The more you read through old threads, the more you see how much this forum is a real community. Detailed intros are great!

You can add an extra seat, and bags on the roadster right?

Yep, that's how mine has always been set up. Getting riding again lately I won't have any passengers for a while, so removed the rear seat, backrest and rack. Just the empty rear fender and bags. For looks I'd like to get rid of the bags, but they're just too useful. As a dad now, a good chunk of my available riding time is when I'm running small errands alone. I've actually thought about running the left bag only around town, since it's the only one that gets regular use.

Anyway, welcome! Glad you have a new outlet for your enthusiasm. It's been the same for me. Great to have people who not only love to ride, but appreciate the Rocket.

Well I have a one ton 7.3 diesel, so I will be saving gas, maybe not as much as her Cruze, but definitely more than my truck. Side note, what is the average mpg of a rocket, generally speaking

30-35mpg

And in fairness better mileage than one of my cars. I also have a 6.7 Cummins so, doubled my mileage for quick errands.

Endured one of my coldest rides ever, early one morning from Show Low to Zuni.
Was 80° about 8 PM when I crashed off the side of 60 for a little shut-eye. Was awoke around 4 AM by cold and frost shivering my ass off.
WFO'd about 100 miles all the way to Zuni before I found a cafe open. Still remember the cold (one of my top 3 freezes) even 30 years later!

PS: Buy your motor for YOU, not for the prospective ball and chain!

The bike is definitely for me my brother, it just happens to be big enough for both of us to ride together

Welcome from Indiana.
My advise would be as follows.

1. Get a Touring model to make the little lady comfy.
2. Get a newer model with ABS. Being a new rider that wants to go fast braking will be important.
3. 6'3" you will need the taller windscreen.
4. You will find the Touring has a milder tune, but there is plenty of insane people here to help you fix that.
5. You been around Harley people. Protective gear is welcomed here.
