Sand in engine, help!

Man! I'm sorry to hear about your bad fortune! I hope you can find an engine. I do have to say though, you have a great frame to play with now and I would be exploring some V8 options if it were me! I'm all about different. I might even consider some electric there. You can pack quite a few batteries in a Rocket frame....
 
G'day Chevy and welcome to the site, not a good outcome for you bloke & agree with T/C want go there with why that was don't to you.

If it was me I would contact Peter Stevens in Melbourne and gave a chat to their Triumph Warranty Bloke. I have spoken to him and his not a bad bloke and knows his stuff.

What I would be asking is prices for rebuilds for bottom end alone and top end included if damage has gone that far, parts for these things aren't cheap.

If your not that financial I agree with T/C a couple of engine flushes and if it's a runner sell it.
 
Thanks for the replys fellas. Really would like to rebuild it though, seems a waste. Talkin' to my local dealer after they did the inspection for the cops, probably buy a new one & do something with it down the track. As one of our local heroes once said "SUCH IS LIFE" (Ned Kelly 1855-1880)
 

Good Idea bloke get a new one, keep the old one and get hold of a full workshop manual. The do bit by bit and make it into a 400HP project bike. Get one before September and ride to Hervey Bay check out RDU - Rockets DownUnder.
 
Yeh, cheers Big Marty. Funnily enough bought the workshop cd not long ago to see how these things worked inside (400 pages mind you, bit tricky printing this off at work, ha). Looks like I'll be getting a closer look than I thought. Will keep a close eye on any future runs for sure.
 
Wouldnt it be cheaper to buy a new engine for triumph?
Say $10,000 as oposed to $20,000 to $23,000 for a new bike.
then you could have some bits to either sell like the Cyl head, engine block etc (one of our captains was looking for a block cos he broke selector input shaft or send it off to recieve a carpenter kit done!

Jeez, those pictures of the holed case look down right ugly. Definitely be kicking the cat when you get home. My local dealer got onto Triumph in the UK & they have them, but they sell them as being built from spare parts so charge the spare parts price which turned out to be approx $23,000. Yep, you can buy a new bike for that. Think I might have to leave the country & come back in as a boat person, get some cash off of generous Aunt Julia to get meself setup & buy 2012 Rocket.
 
Thats down right rude of TRIUMPH to shaft us when we are in need.
