SAFE Ride System

Didn't Kroth test something like this?

If the brakes lights come on every time you let off the throttle then I would not like it. The reason is that I hate following drivers who are riding their brakes because I don't know when they are actually using them to slow down. If the brake lights are on too much then they lose their effectiveness for a signal that you are slowing down or stopping. A bit like the boy who cried "wolf".

From what I'm seeing, that's not how they function, you can certainly make them function that way but having a red LED bar only flash when you slow, separate from your brake lights could be a good thing. If it only activates when you slow and not when you hit the brakes and the brake lights still operate independently of this device I can see the advantage of having it. it would just work as a pre-warning, then whoever is behind you gets nailed with the full brake lights when you actually start to stop.

I can see just about every thing that's about to hit me up front, my fear is being hit from the rear and I'm usually paying so much attention to the slew of morons in front of me that I often neglect (not that there is an excuse for it) my mirrors when coming to a stop.

Amen! That's exactly what I think I like about these...if I pull the trigger on them, the folks riding behind me at the Hill Country Salvo can tell me what they think.

 I never thought about THAT! I guess I have to practice up on my 'go flying over the top of a blind hill, with no idea what's on the other side' skills...but I expect even then I'll be at the back of the pack.

This is a less expensive alternative and it is something I will not ride without. Anything that gets you better seen or noticed while on two wheels is all good in my book!

The Kisan looks like it only activiates when you hit the brakes and put current to the brake light circuit. What I like about the SafeRide is that ANY decelleration, including a quick downshift, sends out the warning that the bike is slowing. The Kisan will definitely get you noticed...I'm looking for an 'early warning' system that'll give folks a heads-up. I tend to downshift into my stops/turns and don't use the brakes until needed (unless I'm awake enough to realize some cager is on my 6).

MTC busses use a light that flashes when they de-accelerate. It simply uses a switch that hooks into a vacuum source and when the vacuum hitts a high number [which happens when deaccelerting] it activates the rear lights to flash. It would be easy to make a setup like that. I don't really see the need for it. Most cycle accidents are caused from people pulling in front of you or rider's inattention and hitting something, not being hit from the rear.

Now come on guys, you are looking at this problem with the wrong frame of mind. Remember that the Triumph Rocket is one of the largest horsepower production motorcycles around. Now let me ask this question, who is ever going to be following that close behind you????

Correction

THE largest, not one of the largest.
Who indeed?
Soccer moms, drunks, texting teenagers, and harley are always behind,
so just to be safe, a Stebil for the front and a flashing LED beacon for the rear.
Safety first..
