I am probably going to buy Mutazu MU bags for my Rocket, and install them with Easy Brackets. I'm wondering about wiring the supplied lights so they function as running/brake lights.

I've done a search on the forum, and there are some relevant threads. But I'm really lame at electrickery. I hope you guys won't want to kick me out because I can't read a wiring diagram. What I really need is a plug and play solution, and some of you have referenced using a trailer wiring harness.

Is there a specific brand/type that I need to match the connections for my 2005 R3? Can anyone recommend a vendor (and a link to the exact product would be awesome)?

Ok. So I found these quick connect 4 wire plug connectors. I take it that the three wires from the lights in the saddlebags will connect to three of the four wires coming out of the plugs. Then the wires from the opposite plugs somehow need to be spliced into the wires leading to the brake light.

Is that right? I'm not sure how to best accomplish that. Any tips from anyone who as done this?

I haven't ordered them yet. I'm just preparing myself for the installation.

Can someone confirm that these connectors are what I'm looking for?
Assuming these connectors will work, the biggest question I have now is how to hook up the bike-side connectors to the brake light wires. Do I have to splice them in. Is there such a thing as a wiring harness for this purpose?

When I did a fender elimination on my Bonneville, there was a plug and play wire harness that made the fender and turn signal relocation a snap.

These are the bags I'm looking at, Mutazu MU bags. The website doesn't give much specifics about the lights. Others I've read who have them say there are three wires; a ground wire, one for the lower intensity, and one for the higher intensity lights (ie. running lights and brakes lights).

Here is what I made for my Corbin Beetle Bags. '39 Ford LED duel intensity flush mount with chrome ring from Rodworx.

I have similar (if not identical) cases with a different name on. The came with red lenses fitted and a set of amber lenses. I use the red ones.

Yes they have a twin filament bulb in. The wiring is a bit shoddy imo. 3 wires - 1 earth, one lo wattage, one high wattage. But they're not labelled. So you may need a bit of trial and error to find out which is which. The wire looks like standard 3 core household wiring flex. Brown/blue/green iirc. Can't remember which was which - but I'll bet it varies.

I'm blowed if I can see a big difference in the intensities. I only use the low (well I think it's the low) hard-wired into a custom fuse box. I DO NOT LIKE SPLICING INTO WIRES - but if you are going to - look at the Posilock Tap splices. Posi-Lock(R) - The Best Connectors You'll Ever Use!

I'm about to get a matching top case and will wire the lights in it to the brake.

Mine are bolted on fixed. My advice - change the bulbs out for some cheap LED ones. You'll be surprised how much vibration there is at the back end. I'm not sure the plastics will take much removal/refitting without splitting. LEDS will last longer.

Any sort of plug/socket set up will do - I'd use something a little more waterproof but I'm fussy.
