I am in the midst of rebuilding the gearbox (I know! Unusual right!) on my new to me 2006. The tech manual I am consulting says to use an RTV sealant on the crankcase halves. I have always used an anaerobic flange sealer on all the rebuilds that I have done before now. Never had an issue with leaking. Can anyone give me a good reason why anaerobic flange sealer would not be a better option than RTV silicone in this application, besides the fact that "because that's what it says in the book". I know at the Triumph factory they use the RTV but they also used cheap **** circlips and detent springs in the gearbox so..........
