Just some rough math. From my house to RAAIII equals approximately 1200 miles. I have to go back home,( according to my wife that may be optional) add another 1200 miles. We will probably knock out another 200 miles just getting to know Arkansas with short trips. Total about 2600 miles ball park. I generally gas about every 100 miles with the "Old Fat Bottom Girl" taking around 4 gallons. Lets say gas is only about $4.00 a gallon by then. 26 fillsX4gallonsX$4.00 a gallon= $416.00 in fuel alone. Does anyone buy to buy a slightly used kidney, just had a little usage from Diet Pepsi, coffee, and Coors Light. I'll still be there but it looks like "potted meat and crackers" will be the trip diet thanks to our friends from the Middle East and oil company greed.
Don't let me down G. Tell ya what, just for allowing me to room with ya, I'll grab the tab for a couple of hot dogs & chips, maybe a drink if it's needed to wash it down. Your choice too, Diep Pepsi OR Coors Light. All for offering a friendly hand. That certainly should make the trip affordable, right?
And remember, that AARP card I'm totin' just may put another "dollar, three eigthy five" in yer pocket too.
Sounds like you're getting pretty low gas mileage there. I get 34-35 MPG and don't start looking to fill up until 160 miles or so and usually takes about 4.5 gallons at that point. I've been over 180 miles before finding a station and, although I was starting to worry, I could have went another 20 miles or so.. I run a PC-III with TORs/ cat-by pass.
Sure do like the looks of the Jardines, as well as Travelguy's Predator exhaust system though.

No problem-I'll be there. I was just *****ing about the price of gas and figured this trip thread could use a little bump. I have had to fill every darn bike, car, and truck I own in the last couple of days and the prices just keep going up and up. I am covered though with with my stock investments in Polaroid cameras, manual typewriters, and carbon paper. I am also looking at some options in fender skirts and continental kits. By the way, the hot dog has to be a Nathans, best on the planet. See you in the Saw.( You know we all can't go much over a full year without seeing Flip's smiling mug, but there is no way in hell I will try to keep up with you and Scott in Exile on the twisties.)
TxRIIIRider,
I am probably exaggerating the math in my equations, but I really don't push it much over 120 to 130 miles before I stop to gas and rest the ass. I am running the PCIII with the tune for the Jardine exhaust and have never really checked my gas mileage. I don't think I could get anywhere close to 180 miles on a tank. I do know I will need a new rear tire before the trip. The site Ratboy posted under the tire thread has some good prices-just FYI to anybody else who has to re-skin before the endeavor. I consider the gas sucking and tire eating is part of the Beast and have learned to live it.
