Rockets Across America III

Pig9r

As long as the date stays firm I'm in, (I'm currently in southern Spain and it took a tad longer than expected to catch up with the wife and make sure she was okay with this jaunt. She might be accompanying me if she can get her neck problem sorted out)

FYI Mapquest is showing a bunch of construction work around St Louis.

Note to Missouri I-64/Hwy 40 Travelers:

Attention: All lanes of I-64/Hwy 40 will be closed in both directions between I-270 and I-170 in the St. Louis, MO area. This section of the construction project will be closed from January 2, 2008 through the end of 2008 to allow for The New I-64 reconstruction project. Local businesses will remain open during the construction and can be accessed using alternative routing. MapQuest is working directly with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) to ensure accurate driving directions in the affected area, but you may wish to verify your route on MoDOT’s website, The New I-64 project. For your safety, always obey local construction and detour signs.

Do the local area Captains know if the detours they have set up are fast moving or should this area be avoided at all costs?

FYI There is a Antique Automobile show in Eureka Springs the same weekend.

I have reserved a room at the Riders Rest Motel.

Looking forward to meeting y'all

Tonymac

ok, I don't want to give up on this patch/pin idea, although ideas aren't comming as fast as I'd imagined from such a diverse talented group of free thinkers. If we've had our bikes for more than a week, we've done something to her, right? Anybody out there rideing a bone stock scoot with NO modifications whatsoever? Didn't think so.
Now I know we've got creative genius lurking hereabouts so lets put it to good use for something we will remember. RAA 3 patches.
Some of you are alot more creative than me, and I came up with 4 pictures of ideas. As has been pointed out before, I'm no artist.
no one will laugh at your effort, and so what if they do, your idea, your effort, so who cares. give it a shot guys... xhdskip

If you stick with I-70 to I-270 you'll be fine. Rush hour traffic through the Lou should be avoided at all costs. Otherwise it is still pretty heavy.

Lodging

I guess I'm un-officially the lodging guy only because no one else has posted anything as yet. Okay, here goes. Eureka Springs Sept 6th and 7th, 2008. I'll be there starting Friday afternoon and staying until Monday morning so if you can, come down early and stay late.

I talked with Debbie today and she handles reservations for (2) locations in Eureka Springs. They have a motel that has 12 rooms with different bed sizes available and is about 4 miles from downtown and they also have a group of cabins that hold from 2 up to 10 people and it's 1.5 miles from downtown.

I'll leave each person or groups of people to make your own reservations with her. Be sure to use "Triumph Group" when calling as it will alert her to our discount. I know the motel rooms start at $ 59 a night but if a bunch of us stay there, she'll drop it to $ 49 a night.

As for the cabins..... prices range from $ 59 a night up to the big cabin for $250 (10 people)

Here's the contact information if you plan to stay at either location:

Contact: Debbie (800) 442-9411 for both location

Pine Lodge: http://www.pinelodgecabins.com/accommodations/

Flyrod Inn: http://www.flyrodinn.com/

There will be those that choose to find another location and that's okay. I just remember how handy it was to have us all in the same area just for the convenience of spending time together. We can also choose to meet at a given location each morning and evening if that suits everyone.

I hope this information will help. I'm planning to arriving Friday afternoon and staying until Monday morning.

For those who might want to camp out here's a site with several locations: http://www.beaverlake.com/dryrecreation/camping/

Would someone please PM me as to what days this is gonna happen? I need to reserve a room or cabin or whatever and I don't have a clue as to the dates...........

Also, is Gunshots and Tony Mac going down together and I'm going alone or am I meeting George somewhere along the way or what?

I'm feeling left out................

Flip,
If you move to Texas before then, you can ride with us Texians.. I think it's been narrowed down to the second weekend in September. Sep 12-14th?

Correction

The time we had discussed was the first weekend after Labor Day which falls on Monday, September 1st . That would make it Saturday, September 6 - Sunday, September 7, 2008.

As I stated in the lodging post, I'll be down there starting Friday, Sept 5th through Monday morning.

Does that sound alright to everyone? If there's a problem, send me a PM so I can change plans for lodging and eating.
