Thought this might be of interest to you fellow rocket riders.A mate of mine has the latest BMWS1000RR motorbike. For anyone who only takes an interest in Rockets I will briefly say it is a road going racing bike, weighs slightly more than a large havana cigar and puts out as near as dammit 200bhp. So anyway me and him go for a ride and swap bikes! Well this thing is absolutley tiny and the riding position is well I can only describe it as your arms feel like they are so low and very far forward, almost over the front wheel. It has various power settings which start at rain and end up with F******G HELL !
Anyway the gist of this story is when I got back on the rocket it felt faster! Now thats not to say it is because of course it isnt , carrying far more weight and 50 odd bhp less but what I am saying is the useable torque gives the rocket a far more useable and satisfying sense of power and the riding position well it felt like sitting in an old leather armchair!
Oh I forgot to say we went to Brands Hatch racing circuit, parked the bikes together and when we returned guess which bike had a small group looking it over? You guessed it ,me rocketship.
So the moral of this story, all bikers are brothers but there is nothing out there that compares to the Triumph Rocket!
p.s is my mate swapping his 1000RR for a rocket? Nope he thinks it is too big, too heavy and dont corner! He will eat his words when one day someone does the Isle of Man at 130mph on a Rocket3!
