Rocket X #493 - Reporting to the Forums :D

Thank you for the warm welcome guys... Feels great to be on here... I saw these on amazon and I don't know why they seem to give that extra clearance needed.

G'day and welcome. If you do get after market pipes, then keep your originals as you may want to return it to original if you ever sell it. Black Rebands or CES pipes would look great, and with a Ramair filter (or triple filters) and a decent tune, would wake up the beasty within.

I think that you would also be one of the few members from Qatar. Is it your home country or are you there for work?

Qatar is my home country sir... Rockets here are far and few.. Wouldn't be surprised if I were the only one on the boards here. I'm not a big fan of CES but the Rebands seem like a great option.. Even though they are somewhat pricy, the mod is reversible and will provide a much wanted power gain... I also intend on doing Ram Air... All that would be left is a tune... Dyno not an option.

Welcome aboard and congratulations on your purchase. Although I generally subscribe to the principle that you should make your bike your own, I believe (and I know I'm in a bit of a minority here) that the value of the 'X' lies in it's uniqueness. I can't really see the point in spending the extra money on a bike that is different to the others and then modding to be like any other modded Rocket. Of course changing the exhaust is easily reversible and there are a couple of good black options, such as Reband and CES. Bottom line; it's your bike and you should do what you want to it. Just do us all a favour and don't get upset (like some have) if not everyone likes what you do. If you ask for opinions, be prepared to get them. Enjoy your ride.

By the way, I work at a Triumph shop and just sold #485 today.

I agree mate and I would never be upset over someone's opinion... I always value opinions even I decide not to take them :p

Hi Mo & welcome to a good bunch of guys (except for those troublesome Aussies) :p
No disrespect to R3X owners but I fail to see the allure of the 'X'
Seems to me they are yet another paint job marketing ploy but with a number to make them appear special.
Do they have any sooper dooper parts, go any faster, stop any quicker, handle better ? than previous R3's
Leave it stock or Mod the hell out of it, personally I would do the latter.
Just make it your own & enjoy:thumbsup:

I have a thing for exclusivity even though at the end of the day, its a marketing gimmick but if people like myself did not exist... All those special edition models will be a terrible business case. It's special in its own right that Rocket X but chances are I will end up modding the heck out of it.

Forgot to put the link to the pegs..

I do apologize in advance if I offend anyone with stupid ideas I may have.. Bare with me I'm still new to all of this and have no doubt that with your professional advice and assistance, I shall be a worth member of this esteemed community

Welcome From Another Of the Aussies (one of the less troublesome ones) just remember your opinion is the only one that counts, I can help modify the Std Tune once you get the exhaust etc as I have for another X owner and he was happy with result, as far as the screen is concerned you could easily get the Fly screen and have it colour match then have a brushed metal finish stick on strip put on with a few coats of Clear by a decent paint guy ..... just a thought might even look good

Hello Mo and welcome from Virginia. I spent a year and a half in Qatar 2006 to 07. I don't seem to remember where the 'twisties' are though. :)

Boog you caught me out buddy.. Haha; firstly Qatar has changed quite a bit from time period you were here.. Nonetheless, twisties are far and few but we still ride to them :)... If you're ever in town again let me know and I'll take you to some nice riding places.. Then you can assist in finding a solution to the RX's scraping foot peg issue

Welcome from West Oz. I am sure that once you start tinkering with your new toy and realize the benefits, you will adapt it to your individual liking. Like others have said, you can always keep the parts if you ever decide to go back to original. Enjoy.

Welcome from Mississippi! Spent more than a few years there as well. Don't remember many twisties, though there's tons of round-a-bouts ;) the dunes were great fun though. Scott, you'd be in heaven with the straight away offerings. They're like bonneville, but paved and go on forever!
She's your X now...mod her as you like. Be creative and I'm sure you can keep the theme. One of the things most of us love about the rocket is, she's different. I know I wouldn't want to have the "exact same bike as 499 other guys", no matter how special edition it is. Shortly said, own the X proudly, but make it uniquely yours! :)
