@3Katz Hey mate,

I won't be attending this year as I was severely unwell recently resulting in major surgery.... nearly 7 days in ICU and 40 odd staples... Not pleasant at all. The big girl has been unofficially scrutineered, and is prepped and ready to go! Unfortunately I am not...

Looks like I'll have to wait until next year!

Cheers,

Samuel.

Geez that's no good mate! I hope you're well on the mend. It's a shame I'll miss your run, hopefully you get some footage to share next year. Take it easy and best wishes on your recovery :thumbsup:

Ah to be sidelined after surgery! Been there done that! You be on the mend post haste! And you will be riding sooner that you think!

Cheers for all the love fellow Rocket owners! Got back on the bike shortly after surgery with 40 staples in my stomach ahahaha nothing was stopping me getting out there riding the big girl!!! Then BOOM! There goes the gearbox again...... FFS stuck in top gear this time, EXACTLY the same symptoms as last time!!!! BLOODY HELL!!! Root cause analysis time.... So yeah... locked up gear shifter and terrible sounds coming from the bowels of the beast....

Stay tuned for another rebuild :S

Initially I thought the issue was due to the setup of the control and foot boards fitted. You could not get your boot under the shift leaver when at (close to) factory position, and when it was setup high enough to fit your boot underneath it the leaver would have to move back and forward rather than up and down to change gears..... This was obviously due to the footboards fitted not being allowed for by the factory, or the fact I have big feet ahahaha. So I pissed off the after market boards for OEM pegs. When I stripped it down last time I found no other issues present other than 3rd/4th smashed and bent forks. I replaced all bearings etc and put her back together. It held up for around 13,000kms, shifted strangely a few times for the last 100km of it's life, then got stuck in top (which it still is). It has lived some of it's life on the back wheel, smoking the rear tyre and drag racing anything that I feel it should.... or shouldn't. I have taken some care to ensure that the rider input is positive and intentional, also I have tried to treat it with some maturity and respect.... but alas, she go pop again :(

I will know more once I strip it, and this time I intend on getting full CSI on this *****. My findings shall be documented on here to the best of my ability and I hope to add some good information to our wonderful forum! My current theories are the snap ring next to 5th as popped out or, the detent mech has failed causing the bent forks or, the helical gears on the output are somehow causing axial load which could i suppose misalign the shift mech under heavy load and hard shifting.

Should be interesting to see what the conclusion is!

Note: Since the box has been overhauled last there has been some strange mechanical resonance/vibration when in 4th under heavy acceleration. This has played on my mind for some time and hasn't been present for the last 1000kms leading up to this failure.
