Rocket.
Hey all,

Just picked up a rocket here in Aus for a bargain price and it seems I have blown the box.... Only got 1000kms up the road before it went :( Note: The bike rev's to well over 8,000rpm , and develops around 240 HP.... An amazing piece of kit.

It looks like I will have to overhaul it. Is there anybody online that has overhauled one of these that could give me some tips on overhauling? I'm wondering how many HP can a standard box handle?? Should I beef up the box? and if so how?

The high horsepower ones seem no more or less likely to blow up the transmission, seems kind of random, you get a good one or you don't.

You guys rock! Cheers for the info! Any idea's how long a gearbox o/haul should take???

Also, for some further info, bike making grinding noise while pushing even with clutch in and will not roll backwards clutch in or out :(

If you have the parts about 24 hours start to finish would be my guess. To me it sounds like you have more then a detent spring problem. Sounds like fourth and fifth dogs are in mess or partially engaged. What year Rocket is it?

Make sure that your clutch is adjusted EXACTLY as stated in the manual. It is amazing how many problems can be caused if it isn't.

Welcome mate, where in OZ are you?
@MRJ has recently had his gearbox apart, he is on the gold coast.

@warp9.9 bike is 2007 and has a carpenter racing kit in it. Great bike! shame about the breakdown :( have the gearboxes significantly changed between 2007 and current??
