Mine get pretty warm already...over 500F after a few minutes of idling on the lift according to my IR temp gun so I wouldn't expect them to be that much hotter. I would still ceramic coat them with a nice satin black finish to help with heat, but I'm tired of pulling them off every couple of years to re-coat due to rust break through on the mild steel headers so I want to try stainless.

Stainless would be bloody hot I'm thinking. I think I recall hearing a rumour that a customer wanted chrome plating instead of ceramic coating and the chrome was unbearably hot.

Excellent point, Fred.
I may have to rethink the awesome look of stainless.:(

I tried to get a chrome plated CES system in 2015, but they said they don't do them. All their R3 systems were ceramic coated, but they had different colors to choose from.

I found the ceramic to dull a lot after a couple years.
Could re-do for about $160.00 but now thinking a clean stainless may look better.
I do have the CES shields, which help . . . some???
