I think the r3 rider was paying attention just in the wrong area ,on the bike at the rear instead of the road up front .i must admit on long hauls for me it is hard to stay focused .i often just look at the scenery and relax and get oblivious to the posted speed limits.i had one occasion I had hit the front brakes that hard the front tyre skipped sideways a bit .that was an experience that is locked in the brain
