Roadster oil use

The dealer put full synthetic in at the first 1000 klms service so its already in there and when I rang today they said to use full synthetic? the manual says to use semi or full synthetic
"correction after looking on the shell site the oil they used is semi synthetic but they just wrote full on the invoice."

Ditto, I use the 15w - 50w too. Reckon it is a better range suited to Oz variable conditions than the 10/40.

Peter start the bike up and let it idle a minute then shut her down and hold her upright to check the oil some might be in the sump and your not low on oil otherwise my bet is they did not add enough. STay away from shell oil use the motul or Mobile personally I would go for the motul Its what Neville Lush uses so its got to be good.

Thanks for all your help guys, yes I did start it up for a while then let it sit for 10 minutes and hold her up to check and it was at the bottom of the add mark, I bet they didn't fill it right either as it has just happened to my brother this week from the same dealer.
I will drop the oil and change the filter tomorrow and use a semi synthetic motul for another 5,000 klms then at 10k change over to a full synthetic.
Once again thanks for every ones help and input.
Regards Pete

Ditto on the Mobil 1 racing 4T. Run the ton every time out, can't help it " she speaks to me". Change the oil every 3500 miles.Don't notice any use on my '10 Roadster.

I (well, my dealer) did the first oil change at about 600 miles (1,000 kilometers) and I have done every one since. I used the Mobil that Triumph initially recommended, then switched to Castrol when they changed their minds. I changed the oil every 10,000 miles (16,000 k's) as per the manual, and with 108,000 miles on it now it runs as good as ever and I never have to top up between changes. I figure that Triumph posted that information in the hand book and the manual for a reason. Those with high performance changes such as from Lush or Carpenter may need to use different oil because they now have different requirements.

Hi in my manual it says to change the oil every 10,000 Klms and says to use any semi or full synthetic oil that meets the standard they list, it doesn't mention any brand and when I asked my dealers workshop they said they use shell and that triumph didn't recommend any brand when he went for his training in Melbourne on the rockets, same with the coolant just any good quality brand as he asked that question.
Cheers Pete

I do exactly the same ,never uses any oil
