Bringing this back up again as I have found that pulling the bars back a little might be better for me. Im 6'1" and although I can reach the bars, I feel more comfortable sitting back a little bit. So the question is...........do you have to lengthen any cables when doing this? I see the talk about the clutch cable but other than the pinching are the other attachments ok?

Thanks

me and stb has had no problem with the other cables the only one u have to mess with is the clutch cable

Rivco Risers

Just installed the risers yesterday and can see the issue with the clutch cable. Experimented with several location and turning to the left did move the clutch cable. However, after a test ride it did seem to be ok, with doing figure 8. I did have increase the gap from the specified 2mm to ~3mm or so. I can also see having them installed by a dealer might not be as detailed when you do it yourself. The instructions were quite clear and would encourage anyone do perform this small upgrade. There isn't really anything to mess up unless you are strong enough to snapped bolts off while installing the risers.

Sorry did not take any pics, although if anyone is interested how I routed the cables....I would be more than happy to post some pics.

Added some Pics...Limited to 3 on this post.

Remember you guys ... significant difference between Standard/Classic and Touring models. They have big differences when it comes to the risers. Just so you know.

Hellfire makes a very valid point. This thread is in the Touring section and your installation appears to be on a Standard model.

Hey, in that third picture your gauge bolt cover looks loose ... wouldn't want that to blow off, I can see the tab.

There should be a GIPro mounted there anyway ... lol :D

Just a little word of warning , I put the risers on mine and they definetly helped, i then put the touring seat on and that brought me forward a little more . But out in the middle of nowhere my clutch cable snapped it came away and frayed at the lever, I had no problems with it prior, and it was rerouted on the outside , i may have been unlucky , it happening but i was lucky there was a good samaratin who got me going , with a makeshift cable i had to cut my holiday short and go straight home , nearest triumph dealer was a few hundred klm and a 5 day wait to get a cable .

I went home and the dealer replaced it under warranty , but if i put the risers back on i will definetly get a longer clutch cable , for the sake of a few dollars i would'nt want to risk it happening again , a mate had the risers on, and his cable was begining to frey has well ,he only spotted it when he got round to changing to a longer cable .

Also if anyone his thinking of putting the risers on , i've found now with the longhaul seat the bike is actually quite comfortable without the risers.

So my advice would be to buy the seat if first , if your thinking of purchasing both seat and risers. , if its the risers only , like i said i personaly feel that its alright for a while but theres a tad to much strain on the cable.. my bike was at 22,000 klm when it happebnned so i had done approx 20,000 on the old cable
