Ride Improvement With Stock Shocks...

The ride was always rough, but after towing the bike three times to Daytona, even with cautious use of straps it has become slightly worse. Drawing upon info learnerd elsewhere, I changed the stock settings on the rears from "1" to "3." I can't say the ride improvement was major, but it seems that the rear has a little more bounce to it than "crash."

I may actually try it at "5" to see how it feels next...

After 6 months, I set the old Rocket to 5. I had the new one set there before I left the factory. I've never seen the need for the new shocks with this setup. With the Classic seat, it is even better!!

so is the classic seat much wider than the stock pillion?

My spousal unit hates the stock seat and wants a wider seat ( her words)

also says the ride is pretty rough, going to trey to adjust shocks first then probably buy new ones

YUP, found the same, MiamiDave, and only wound it above 3 when my 6'6" son was on the back. Found the ride too harsh otherwise.

I still gave up in the end and bought the progressives. The ride has been noticebly smoother, even my good lady is commenting how much better and smoother the ride was, and I didn't even admit I had invested in new shocks.... whoops! they were the same price in GB Pounds you guys pay in US Dollars.

The problem with the progressives with standard springs is that it is great even two up....... but if I put a load on the back as well, they are too soft and bottom out if pushed too hard.

I was thinking of putting the stock shocks on for a trip to Spain in the Summer 'cause I know I will have a load up and the stocks will cope better!!!

HO,HUM, its all a compromise I suppose!!
