Rev Limiter to 7400?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but just connected up Tuneecu to remove the service interval message and checked my rev limiter. It was set on 7000. Did I miss something when I updated with the free Penner tune? I upped it to 7400. Anything I should be worried about? Seems on google it's a standard setting so wondering why mine was on 7000 and if so is 7400 a little too much? Not that I am red-lining all the time. Not that worried .... just sanity checking with you experts here. Thank you in advance guys.

if you didnt flash a tune then i would not worry about rev limiter settings in tuneecu

Either 7000 or 7400 try and not activate the rev limiter, its cool i see people wrapping up on it all the time, when it does the amount of pressure applied to the rods is incredible, 10 fold on weight to bring it back down. Hitting the rev limiter too me is always considered a mistake, if penner has 7400 in his map you can bet it will run up there no problem, People turn the shim over bucket 111s to 9000 ( not recommended they do at there own peril ), shim under on the new ones has me curious to how high they will hold, before coming unglued. Then, just rebuild it and go again. Ive found its hard to hit rev limit in 5th and you got one more. I will say riding near the rev limiter is . I pay attention better when twisting it.

Hey Kevin... Without a tach I'm never sure what my RPMs are. I put the Power-Tripp tune in my 2011 R3T, and I'm not sure if that increased the rev -limit or just eliminated it. But anyway other than that it's still a stock bike. I've been wondering... what is the fastest you'd want to go in 2nd gear (my favorite gear) without overloading the engine? I'm usually out of 2nd by the time I hit 50 mph.

I run 100mph on the 1/8 mi. and im not in 3rd long when i hit the line, only a couple seconds. Id say i run second gear around 90 to 95mh @ around 7000, i try not to hit limiter i have set to 7400rpm. Im still making power up there but on a stock engine youre done making power at 6000 so send it early and stay in the torque and power curve for the most athletic she can be. You can kind of hear and feel where it stops pulling like a train that’s probably past 5200rpm and its time to send it.

The rev limit in Penner’s tunes for the 2500 cc Rockets is set at 7000 rpm. He said the peak hp is below 7000 so there was no point in raising the limit. You can only reset it with the professional version of Tuneecu.
