Good post, I'll sticky it for easy reference. Just need to change the switch to an aircraft type with hinged cover.:D

Red aircraft Safety switch.

I wasn't aware of the mod previously, though I vaguely recall a mention awhile back or over on the darksite. I use a TB instead. Much more costly though it has it's benefits as well. This mod sounds to make a huge bite into the TB alternative. But the gas mileage aspect mentioned brings me to this: If you Rademis, would keep the entire half-tonne off the back tire more often you'd not see that reduction.

Just a quick note about my resistor mod. Even though I put it on a switch, I left it on full time so that I could tell how it effected my fuel milage. It was notably less, went from the normal 38mpg average down to 35mpg. which I don't think is all that bad because I have really been having fun with this new/greater acceleration. Having more fun on two wheels than a person deserves....... Rademis

I noticed a reduction of about 4mpg after the mod, but it's worth it.:D

Didnt work for me

Well I made this mod on Saturday and honestly can't notice any difference. Went back home to recheck, sure enough switch works (adds in 684 ohms resitance), went out again but still no difference.....must be something about my base tune as someone previously mentioned (possibly needing the resitance of 1200 ohms from 5th instead of 4th ??). I either have 20050 or 20054, cant remeber exactly which but I think I went back to 20050 before the PCIII and dyno tune (as I wanted all stock settings then produce a custom map from there)

As I said, I saw some comments about the possibility of needing to trick it for 5th instead of 4th according to the base map loaded, anyone have any further comments on that ?

Hey Rademis---are you pulling my leg?!?!? 35 mpg???? I'm lucky if I get 25 mpg. Removed the catalytic converter and dropped my mileage to under 20 mpg.......

No i'm not pulling your leg. I have always got really good milage with this bike. I have got better than 40mpg on the interstate at a steady speed the entire tankful. my reduction in fuel milage was because I was really getting on it for the acceleration rush. No I don't pull wheelies, in fact I never could get used to doing that even when riding dirt bikes. Rademis

Must be an old man's thing. I consistently get just a hair over 40, actually 40.55 mpg on the cheap stuff or mid grade. Makes no difference. My Bonneville gets 59 with the sidecar. When the cheap stuff hits 4 bucks a gallon and it will and soon. I'll appreciate the mileage even more.
