It's not a drain plug as such. It's purpose is to hold the mechanism but it serves the purpose.

any drama in attaching the bolt back in place after draining oil ?

Not really. An impact driver to snug it up lightly then tighten to spec. The impact gun avoids the internal mech from turnung until it is snug.

If you remove the wheel you will find an allen screw under each fork leg. Remove it and the oil will drain out. an impact gun will help to re-install them. If you are really fussy you could replace the aluminum washers. HTH
The fork caps are not under spring pressure.

I'm not fully understanding. Are you saying that this is all that is need to drain the forks?

So...drain the forks from the bottom and simply refill from the top??
