Reband Exhaust Install, Again

Pedantic 'noun' .. a necklace or similar piece of jewellery usually found on wogs or women. Hang on , sorry that's a pendant .. but no Bull no such thing as a pedantic Aussie.

If I ever wanted to sell my beloved R3, I would probably sell it completely stock. .. but that's in about 20 year's. .. might be a collector by then

Actually disregard what I say. I pretty much have kept everything except the solo seat and screen mounting kit. Sort of wish I still had both, too, even though I'd probably never use them. One thing for certain though; I won't be putting the original air box back no matter what. It goes in a box.

Original under-tank plumbing is evil .. needs a stake driven through it and to be buried on unconsectrated grounds. Then burial site should be strafed with an Apache attack helicopter... just to be sure

Yes I had my first run in with said under tank plastic pain in arse the other night after I picked up my bike from the exhaust place and wanted to fit the Ramair and drop the bike at the dyno shop the next day. Those 2 hose clamps with the little Allen key that you can only get 1/10 of a turn out of, and the 2 Allen screws with the stepped washer that are he'll bent on getting down behind the oil tank. Ended up I got sick of trying to loosen the hose clamps and just yanked the thing off pulling the rubbers out of the other bit instead. The rest under the tank is still on there I'll attack it when I have more time. I'll keep it but it's not going back on.

And how simple it would be for the factory to position those two oval clamps with the Allen heads vertical and easy to access!!!!!

But it's not a problem for them 'cos they put 'em on before the engine goes into the frame...... bastids......

You really do have to wonder why it was done that way. Not just a total PITA to get off and even harder to get back on, but it takes up so much space and blocks access to plugs etc. And then there's the cost, not to mention inefficiency. One of the stupidest designs I've ever seen. The bell mouths in the plenum are good though - and useful. Maybe Ramair should have used them instead of doing what appears to be a half-arsed copy.

And besides all that it SUX!

I realise it's a bit late for you as you have already spent the money on Rebands but have a look at Rocket Science thread on the Rockets Down Under part of this site. There are no dyno numbers yet for these C.E.S. Pipes yet that is happening this week.

Man, I just caught up on that thread. Those pipes look sweet and much better than the Rebands for fit and finish. Given the reports of those here about the finish of the rebands, I went and had mine ceramic coated before ever putting them on. The coater I went to thought it was a cheap paint. The ceramic coat I did looks much better and is clearly a better finish. Given the crappy fit and crappy finish, I wouldn't recommend the Rebands if there's an alternative with good numbers.
