Reasonable Dealer Request?

You guys are having yourselves on. If you look through the workshop manual to the section on pre-delivery, you will see the method of re-setting the odometer to zero using the factory dealer tool.

It's a once-only operation, at least.

Well that's just not fair! They could load up as many miles as they want and then just hit the reset button. A bike could be used for test rides or loaned out and then be sold as a Zero mile unit.

I ordered the TFC model when they were first announced so nobody test rode my new bike but the techs were required to ride it to make sure the wheels did not fall off. Any bike ordered as a new one should have no riders except the techs and the buyer on it. Yes it is reasonable to request or expect no other riders on it.

I even got the dealer to film the pdi ride by the technician - no one else rode that bike.

Well, I will definitely let the dealer know that I expect a virgin bike unmolested by anyone besides the tech. I'm getting mine from Modesto CA Triumph so if they have to transfer one in so be it. There are other dealers not that far away. I'm not planning on riding it home the day I buy it anyways, am getting the deal done first and then come pick it up when ready. I'm also getting the 2024 special color with the black/red/silver tank design so they my not even have that in stock.

I would suggest that you politely inform the dealer that no one besides the techs be allowed to mount or ride the bike. Be careful not to look like an A hole.

You mean don't act like an entitled millennial who thinks the world revolves around them? No problem. I don't think that I will request video proof of the pdi ride though.

Does anyone know if Triumph starts and/or performs an initial test ride at the factory before shipping out?
