I've tried the "search", but can't seem to find anything on this issue.
Have always changed pads on my bikes. It's time for rear pads on my R3T at 12K. The manual is worthless, and I'm in the dark as to how to remove the caliper to get at the pads. I can't believe Triumph would force you to remove the rear wheel to do the job, but I can't see any other way.
Help!!! What's the secret?

I don't know about the R3T but you don't have to remove the caliper or the wheel on the Standard Rocket despite the instructions in the service manual. Literally take a flathead screwdriver to wedge the piston back into the caliper, pull the cotter pins and the pads pop right out. Insert the new, replace the cotter pins and pump up the brake. Hop on and go.

Again, this may not apply to the R3T but you may want to look at it to see if it will work for you.

Rear pads on an R3 are the easiest brake pads in the whole world to replace. We've debated whether it could be done while moving but no one has tried it yet. :p
The manual says to pull the axle and remove the caliper but that's bull****, Like dragger says, just pry the pads away from the rotor with a big'ol flat blade until the piston pucks are retracted as far as they want to go. Remove the "R" clips and slide the retaining pin out of the caliper and pads. Pull out the old pads and slide in the new ones, replace the pins and "R" clips, pump the brakes a few times until they are firm ... DONE!
Easy-peezy.

to change rear pads on the r3t take the cotter keys out of the rear then lift the caliber up use a pry bar or something similar to pry the padsback pushing the piston all the way back in then take the old pads off then put the new ones in put the pin back in and the cooter keys in then push your brake pedal till u have solid brakes takes bout 10 min at most forgot need to take saddle bag off first

You don't have much to do to change the pads. Just pull the clips, slide out the old pads, slide in the new ones. 5 minutes.

Even I can do it.......

man you guys are rough!!!!!!
I think you get the point by now....in fact they are probably changed already!!!!:D

Any body else want to post how it only takes five minutes...just in case the first 8 didnt
get the point across!!!

I do like the effort of the forum though...........it was almost a race to see who could post the answer.:p
