And no, I don't mean problems with my ass...
Here's the situation. I'll try to give a brief and then as much of a detailed description as I can.
Brief:
I can hear the back tire spinning as though there is no oil in the final drive.
Details:
As I ride, I can hear what sounds like that rubbing sound that comes when your breaks on your car are finally worn enough such that that little tab starts to come into contact with the rotor. I can also feel some slight vibration that travels from that to the frame to my feet as they rest on the floor boards.
What I have done so far:
I checked and topped off the final drive oil. According to the manual, the oil level should just be to the bottom of the filler hole. So I stood the bike straight up on my floor jack and removed the plug. I stuck my finger in and found wetness. It was clean meaning there are no shavings or grit of any kind. I topped it off and replaced the plug. This did not resolve the problem.
I thought it may have been the rear breaks so I replaced the pads. They did in fact need to be replaced but that was not the cause either.
So I put the bike back on the jack and lifted it enough to bring the rear wheel off the ground. This way I could spin the wheel. And sure enough the sound only happens when the wheel is spinning and it really sounds as though it's coming from the final drive.
With the final drive oil being okay and with the break pads having been replaced I'm at a complete loss as to what this could be.
Finally, I recently had a new rear tire put on and of course that meant the rear wheel had been removed and replaced on the bike. Is it possible that in replacing it, something wasn't done correctly? I didn't do it so I don't know if there are any "gotchas" that one should be aware of.
I really need some assistance here because I don't want to ride the bike till I figure out what it is.
Thoughts?
