REAL New Model news

Nobody can deny that we have been getting hosed for years on the import - export tarriffs.
Give this awhile to settle in. If we want to make the wages, then we need to pay for the products.

IMHO - bottom line is we make American, we can buy American.
Our cheap foreign product prices have been at the expense of our exports and has lost us many, many jobs and businesses.
Sure them foreigners hate to lose this winfall they have grown accustom to for many years!
What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Fair trade should be even up, not lopsided one way!

HD pays NO tarriff on American made and sold . . . They just do not want to lose their foreign market. Bring more of those foreign manufacturing plants to America.

Nah it ain't the end of the world... we'll just wire in Motec ECU as the 1st mod and we're back in business :sneaky:

Euro regs will only make it harder to mod. There's always ways around everything if you're determined

As I learnt many years ago, One Man built it, another Man can fix, alter, play with it. Simple.
Well maybe not simple, but one thing that you can rely on is these Humans are pretty clever, some one will find a way around it.

Triumph is in total control of all leaks. As the reveal date draws near we will shift from verbal to spy shots...to youtube fuzzy video and so on.

I go out of my way to insure that if there is an American part for either bike I buy it vice one made overseas. Just on the Rocket we have American made: Headlights, Turn signals, Licence plate bracket, Clutch, Wheel bearings, Shocks front and back, Hand grips, and levers. All of which cost a lot more than the overseas parts. Don't mind paying extra and most of the time get a superior part. Most important is that it supports American jobs. It makes no sense to me to wave the American flag and talk a lot of conservative bull as you go out and buy Chinese made headlights.:(:(:(:(:( The Harley may be assembled in America but it is not made here. Gas tank, fenders and frame are about it. Sad but true. Aftermarket American made parts for the Harley are available. So in time you can end up with a REAL AMERICAN BUILT BIKE. Never been much of a Trump fan but do support and agree 100% with what he is attempting to accomplish.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

If they price it right... perhaps. I would not trade my Rocket for a Diavel. Now a Rocket with ABS, traction control, fuel maps, a rear monoshock swingarm....mmm.
Just don't make me have to lean forward to ride it.

Naaaah... the Diavel looks nice when parked on the curb. Was one of my original options when I bought my T'bird storm. I've seen quite a few folks riding it, the rider looks like they are hanging off their rear ends ... very weird! It is a phenomenal bike I'm sure and am sure awesome to ride too, but I won't trade the road presence that I get on my Trumpets for a Diavel :)

That said, I've always believed each to their own on looks and that any day on 2 wheels is better than one in a cage!!

Let's hope that British don't ruin the Rocket like Honda ruined the Valkyrie. Just improve and refine the out of the box Rocket.
In which case, all our bikes will become really expensive "Classics" ... and we'd all be rich except we still would not sell them ;)

I wonder just how gutless the HDs will become when they meet Euro4 emission standards, if they already don't. Isn't that is what is driving a stake into the heart of the Rocket, European emission standards?

If HD had tried to lure new riders with decent models* instead of trotting out the old, tired GeezerGlides** there is a possibility they may have been able to avoid declining sales to a certain extent. I find it hard to believe they sell enough bikes in Europe to justify putting a plant there, but what do I know?

* Look at all of the old farts that ride a Rocket

** GeezerGlide buyers are becoming very scarce as they drop like flies. Why do you think HD makes a factory trike? Gotta try to keep the geezers buying. My 2 cents worth. I guess that makes them TriGeezerGlides. ;)

Bob, you hit the nail on the head. Young to middle aged people would tend to think that. Harley's are geezer glides. And they really have nothing to entice a younger person. No more Buell's. Kinda like having to take your Pop's station wagon on a date. Has positives, and negatives. But the station wagon was purpose built, not for pleasure or looks. I own 2 Harley's, and they are growing dust and cob webs. The Rocket is a big Girl, and not the prettiest on the road, but she's a pleasure to ride, and will go as fast as you can hang on. Nothing more to ask for.;)
