I usually ride to work with earplugs in (about 30 miles each way). This morning I rode to work without earplugs and for the first time I have heard a sound that I haven't heard before. Not sure how to describe it other than definitely metallic. I have had a hard time trying to identify exactly when it happens but it seems to be at speed, maybe during some acceleration, maybe when I hit a bump, maybe when I'm at the low end of the RPM's for the gear I'm in. Pretty sure it isn't the engine so I guess it's either clutch, transmission or suspension (what's left??) It's not the cooling off clicking noise. Anyone else experienced this or even have any idea from my description what it might be? I don't recall ever hearing it before, even without earplugs.

My bikes been rattly for 7 years, especially over bumps.

I developed a noise recently and I describe it as if you were running over some gravel and the noise it makes traveling around the fender well....Is that what it sounds like?

there's a lot going on under there so unless it is really loud or noticable, it's probably nothing to worry about.
When I rode it home it sounded an awful lot like rattly valves and definitely does it under acceleration but I don't think it's the engine, but something lower. There's no valve rattle just sitting and revving anyway.

I noticed a rattle noise over sharp bumps and pavement cracks, had me baffled for quite awhile ....

.... Then I remembered the stupid angel bell hanging off the right side of the engine guard.

DUUUHHH!!! felt a tiny bit stupid since I put it there myself.

I hope yours turns out to be silliness too rather than something bad.

oh, and my keys make a surprising amount of noise as well.

My triumph keyring does exactly this when it rattles against the chrome ignition cover. I had trouble believing it could make that much noise until I move it and it stopped
