Ran out of gas!

I'm just the opposite. If the gas light comes on (That usually doesn't happen) I bee line to the first reputable Gas station. You have done this how many times? Nerves of steal you have.

I fill up asap after the light comes on. On my old Harley I would hit empty but still have a reserve that I could manually activate, then I would fill up.

I don't chance it unless there's just no place to get gas, then I have no choice.

I never leave town without at least one of these in the backpack. I have two. If not for myself, perhaps for another biker stranded for the same reason. It only takes a US quart (887 ml), which is plenty when you are dry. I also have larger fuel canisters, but they need to go in a saddlebag or locked on a pannier's back.

Experience is the culmination of your own scr3w-ups and those of others that you were fortunate enough to hear about before repeating them yourself.

I did run out of fuel a few months ago as I didn't know that there was no petrol stations for about 180 km. (Highway 1 north of Rockhampton) I ran out 5-6 km before the petrol station and found out that it can run on methylated spirits. That got me to the petrol station without any bad engine noises. I only did 80 km/hr to preserve the bit of meth I had.
I assume that there would have been a small amount of petrol in the tank to be mixed up with the meth.

I didn’t know they would run on meth?Should have saved the meth in case you had to push her!

One of the features I used a lot when travelling across Canada is the "Distance to Gas Station" feature on my Zumo GPS. It gives you the gasoline brand, distance and direction to a multitude of stations. Has really come in handy when stations are few and far between on the prairies.
