Hey Slim,
Most riders actually like some induction sound. Reminds me of when my dad would get into the accelerator on our Dodge Monaco when I was a kid. The four barrels sucking in that air would get my attention fast and plaster a smile on my face! :D
I installed RamAir this past weekend and it sounds really good. I wouldn't change a thing.

LOL when I was a kid of 16 or so I used to pull the air cleaner of my Mom's 327 4 bbl Chevy and tromp on the gas peddle, loved the sucking sound!! Ahhh dems was da days :)

I haven't experienced any crickets or chirping in over a year. If initially you only remove the plenum and install the RamAir, reversal is a doddle if ever you wish. You can still use the empty air filter box as a toolbox/storage space if you wish.

Finally. the induction roar does have the effect of giggle gas as Ottenwulf siad. Makes the bike sound like a race car when you rev it.

Yeah buddy! We would flip the round air cleaner cover over and wingnut it back down.

So I am new here (thanks for having me). I have just received my new ramiar, but I am hesitant to install due to all the noise posts, Thanks

The noise complaints are over rated. Yes you can hear the motor inhale. Yes you can hear the valves chatter. Yes sometimes there is a chirp. Yes the bike is faster. I don't mind specially the valve chatter specially if I run without the bear claw.

Now, when you remove all the ductwork, be careful with the connections and vacuum tubes. If you are pulling them while getting the air ducts out, disconnect them. Place a little dielectric grease in them when you reconnect them. Removing the tank completely off the bike makes all this easier.
When mine came out I found an incorrectly instated duct that was letting unfiltered air into the motor.

In my case as a groom R3 enthusiast and looking back, I should have left the bike just with TOR slip-ons. The greater benefit of the RamAir mod seems to pay at high rpm. The stock bike might be sucking less air but it is cool air. Measure the diameter of the throttle bodies mouths and add them. Measure the approximate area of the intakes under the seat and add them. In fluid flow dynamics the rule is that you need a 70% area reduction in a lumen to have a significant flow reduction downstream of a narrowing. Not sure that the original design has that problem and if the RamAir solves it. I'm sure the experts in the group will make their point.

Be prepared to tweak your TPS and stepper motor with a tune ECU or have your dealer adjust it for you.

I really do not like the sound of the Ramair. It is distracting to hit the gas and hear the roar of power being sucked in. Would prefer peace and tranquility. Hate the way the Exhaust system and Ramair compete working together to create a very distinct sound of raw power. Very distracting especially to the poor soul on the Harley who is doing his best to catch up.:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:
