I bumped the rev to 7k on mine and quite like it. Stock everything except I opened the 2nd throttle. the result was that I don't bump into it anymore it I am slow to up shift.
I think you should listen to Nev as he is spot on. 300 more rpms is not going to gain you much with the stock components but it will move the point of where the ecu starts pulling fuel and leaning the engine out.

Exactly, if I start quickly from the lights I could use a little more topspeed and time to shift in first as well...
