Spearfish, SD Ride
Leaving Tacoma July 15th for Spearfish, SD - a three day ride with nights in Missoula and Columbus, MT.

Arrive Spearfish Sunday afternoon for three nights (July 17,18,19) at the Spearfish Creek Inn - 925 N 3rd - 605-642-9941.

Wednesday, July 20 we ride to Lovell, WY and stay at the Western Motel - 180 W Main - 307-587-4201.

Thursday, July 21 we ride (via Red Lodge, MT - Beartooth Pass - Dead Indian Pass to Cody, WY and stay two nights (July 21 & 22) at the Sunrise Motor Inn - 1407 8th St - 877-587-5566.
Will visit the terrific Cody Museum on Friday, the 22nd.

Saturday, the 23rd leave Cody. From there some will head west through Yellowstone, others different directions . . .

Either Monday or Tuesday on our day rides.

Some last minnute updates offered a WEEK before RAA XI . . .

1) A few have dropped out (@RKTNMYPKT, @albertaduke, @Navigator).
2) @albertaduke has a $129 room reserved in Cody for July 21 if anybody wants it?
3) My group has increased to 9 peeps and 9 motors.
4) The T-shirts are completed and have been delivered to the Spearfish Creek Inn.

I am most disappointed to have dropped out but it is for some very important reasons. As I explained to Steve on the phone, our daughter, an AF Lieutenant Colonel, is traveling here for a medical conference with her husband joining us after the conference. My son and our 7 year old granddaughter will follow her visit. All three are military officers with my son stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground in MD with our daughter and her Army helo pilot husband in the southeast. We get to see them only about once a year because my wife can no longer travel without difficulty. My son and son-in-law have multiple combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and hopefully will never see those dung holes again.

The areas where you guys will be riding is stunning as some of you who've been there before well know. I've ridden throughout and several years ago toured it with my favorite cousin Rocky in his old pickup truck. Rock had hunted on horseback throughout Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming since he was 16 years old and wanted to see the country again before he died. Our favorite stopover was Cook City Montana, a little speck of a western town along Woody and Soda Butte Creeks on the Beartooth Hwy. It sits just north of the Wyoming state line. Upon our return he gave me his old rough out hunting saddle, rifle scabbard and rope which now sits on a stand in my shop next to my bikes.

Rocky is now in hospice and they are turning off his pacemaker. I'll be heading to Oregon on Thursday to spend a few days with him and reminisce about our past adventures.

Lupe, I so looked forward to finally meeting you and your family after our many phone conversations. For those of you who don't know, I was riding Rt 66 years ago and got a bit tangled up in Tulsa. I called Lupe for advice and he got me safely on my way.

GUYS, I HAVE A FAVOR TO ASK, IF ANYBODY HAS A DEALER ON YOUR WAY TO SD, I NEED A SET OF BRAKES, FRONT AND REAR, THEY SENT ME THE WRONG ONES AND MY DEALER DON'T HAVE THEM, I DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO REORDER, IF SOMEONE GET THEM WE CAN SQUARE OFF AT SPEARFISH, OTHERWISE I WILL HAVE TO RIDE THE FAST AS HELL HARLEY ULTRA!
