Hello - I recently bought my first R3T - awesome bike. I have noticed a fair bit of vibration when I accelerate either quickly or slowly (how do you accelerate slowly on a Rocket?) I know this has been discussed before but it was unclear to me if this is a constant vibration or only happens at or above certain speeds or rpm. I took it to local dealer and they put it on their diagnostic machine and claimed it had the standard tune (mapping) even though previous owner had installed the TORS. They downloaded the TORS mapping but it still vibrates quite a bit when accelerating - difficult to see out of mirrors due to vibration. Dealer claimed that was how these bikes ran. Others riders on this forum have suggested cams not balanced properly or clutch cables slack. Has anyone fixed this problem? Like the rest of you I have spent a lot of money on this bike and am not satisified with this vibration. Having rode a Valkyrie for the past six years I wanted another smooth ride. Any thoughts? Thanks.

The bike should be smooth as silk at any rev range and with any amount of throttle. Your dealer is wrong! Is it a new bike?

There are a number of simple things to check, including:
How long since the fuel filter has been changed?
Are the coil (3 coils - 6 spark plugs) and spark plug leads clean and tight - including the low voltage leads?
Are the spark plugs clean?
Have any of the vacuum tubes come off or are they cracking (leaking)?
Are the battery leads tight?
Are the throttle bodies balanced?
Is the Crank Angle Sensor clean?
Is the TPS set correctly?

Do you have either TuneECU or TuneBoy to help analyze the problem?

The stock R3T maps run more than a bit lean. This causes lean misfire when you accelerate. Misfire causes noticeable vibration.
Load in a good map via TuneECU, and the bike runs smoother, responds more quickly, and accelerates with authority. More power, more torque, good fuel consumption.

try tightening your exhaust to engine bolts.mine had a vibe and this was the cause, they were little more than finger tight.it ran a little rought too.

I have an 08 R3T and have used the TORS tune until recently. I never experienced the vibrating mirrors. You may be experiencing another minor problem but i don't think the rocket engine is as smooth running as the Valkyrie. I'm currently using Power-Tripps "de-restricting tune", and notice a better breathing engine and much improved performance from 1st thru 3rd.

Hi - Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. The bike is a 2010 with about 11k miles. I have located a retired Triumph mechanic who says he is familiar with some of the vibration problems that myself and others are having. He will help me to download and install TuneECU. I will also follow up with all the suggestions made by you guys. Will post after changes made. Thanks again. Great forum by the way.

Half the number of cylinders compared to the Valkyrie - 3 massive pistons - 3 cycinder motors are not inherently balanced, you will get some vibration worse at certain rpms, nature of the beast I'm afraid

I don't think I have ever had time to look at the mirrors when accelerating hard.
