R3T Tranny/final drive noise?

I can accept a little mechanical "character" but it just started doing this out of the blue. It is really noticeable and if I didn't know better I would say the clutch isn't fully engaging with the lever pulled in. It shifts fine though. Neutral is getting a little harder to find these days.

Tomo....Correct me if I'm wrong on this but there is a problem with the detent spring and that's what causes the hard to find neutral and the rubber shifter. I know, when I talked to Gus on the phone he said there were a couple of upgrades/fixes other than just the TDU bearing and they would all be addressed at one time. Didn't Big Ern replace his along with the loose nut when he took his apart himself?

I'm going to give you a toot this week sometime and then coordinate with Gus and bring the bike out. I'm going to have Baxters put the seals in too. They are sitting in the Bike Bandit box on the dining room table....

My Tracker has it's work cut out for it......

One thing I'll say about the TDU, it can survive on one bearing. It howls but it keeps going...sort of like a politician.:D

Took my bike to the dealer today. No one is sure what the noise is but it sounds like the engine will have to be torn down to find the problem? After talking to the service mangager the mechanic "tried to call Triumph"? Why he was calling them is still a mystery to me but I ASSume there was good reason. She also stated "the tear down might be covered under warranty". Bet your ASS it is. Brand new motorcycle bought in August 08 with 1700 miles on it **** well better be!!!

Interestingly, I'm finding out that you can, indeed, remove the TDU without dismantling the engine. It can be removed after removal of the rear wheel, bevel box and drive shaft housing. However, I think mine is a little past that.

It 'might' be under warranty? Ity WILL be under warranty just as mine will be.

Triumph seems to have a problem going on that needs to be addressed and not here in this country but rather in England.

....Update.....

Triumph approved the tear down of my bike to find the source of the clunking noise. Unfortunately, I think the riding season is over for me. They're going to start (supposedly) tearing my bike down next week. I know this is going to take a while. How long? Who knows?

Mike:

Depending on the competency of the techinician(s), and if, they concentrate on the bike and stay with it, it should be a few days. I'm sure there will be parts/assemblies to order so, 2 weeks isn't out of the question.

Let us know what they find and what is replaced and the prognosis if you will.

Called the shop yesterday. They haven't started on my bike yet.
According to them there is another Rocket ahead of mine. Of course I'm thinking.....so what? Can only work on one at a time or what? Argh!
Sure glad I didn't buy a Triumph car. I'd have been walking the last couple of weeks I guess.

Called the shop today. It is/was something wrong with the clutch assembly. Waiting on the parts to come in. :(
I'm going to talk to the actual mechanic/technician when I pick it up to get the details.
