I'm using the radials on mine , like i said happy with them done approx 5000 klm still plenty tread left , no sign of cupping ,, I don't think they grip quite has well has the metz , but still more than good enough for the average rider .

Funny you should mention bias ply ,, because a couple of years ago the dealer put them on the front of mine by mistake i took it off at 10,000 klm because i had a long trip coming up it still had enough tread on it to warrant keeping it .. It was definetly the best wearing tyre i've had on a rocket .

The dealer said they are good enough if has long has you don'nt go riding around at 100 mph everywhere , case in point was provefd with me ,, but i still always pay through the nose for radials ,, just for that added security

I recently had a Avon Cobra 140/75R 17 front tire installed on my 2007 R3 Classic and the bike handles great!! If a person wasn't familiar with how the front tire and fender look with the stock tire they would never know the difference. If you aren't pleased with the way your Rocket handles, buy one of these tires!!

Thanks for your response, mate. It will be interesting to see how many miles that tire will get you, a more conservative/prudent rider than many of us, down the road.

Happy trails and please keep us posted. Cheers!!!

I'm sorry if I'm going off topic . . . But it's a similar question :)

The oem tyre size is close to impossible to find in singapore. Is there some sort of tyre calculator that can recommend alternate size tyres for touring? I recently changed my front and was forced to use a rear shinko (150/70 R16) mounted in the opposite direction.

I used Michelin Commander ll's on my 13' and am going to use them on the 15' when the time comes F-130/90/16 R-185-65-16 they are bias tires .They handle great and outstanding milage IMO.

I ran the Metz on mine until around 7k on the rear and 9k on the front. I changed the rear out a little early as I was taking a trip of around 1,400 mile and didn't want any grief from the rear tire. I replaced it with the Excedra Max with no complaints. I replace the Front Metz early because I decided I wanted to run the Excedra Max all around. I was happy with the Excedra Max front and rear, but.....

Now that I am back on the Metz with my new bike, after my other bike was totaled, I have to say the bike feels much lighter and noticibly more responsive with the Metz. When it's time to replace the rear tire again, I will be putting on another Excedra Max. I don't think that is going to be the case with the front tire. The profile of the front Metz is such that I'm inclined to stick with that tire on the front. It just makes the bike handle better in my opinion. The bike just feels heavy and not as quick in the turns when running the Excedra Max front and rear. One other thing...I think the ride is harsher with the Excedra as it is a stiffer tire in its construction. Just my observation...

My apologies, but my chart pertains to the 17 inch front wheel and not the 16-inch on the R3T.

That 140 works well on the Roadster. Do not go down to a 130 size!

I've come to this thread because it is time for ANOTHER rear tire on my R3T. After looking through the threads last year, I decided to try the Excedra Max, 7,300 miles on it and it is toast. I maintain the tire pressure, I am 245#, and ride a lot with my wife or daughter on the back, never felt like the tire was not handling well, just can't believe it is worn out already after all the rave reviews!?!
