I have an altimax on the rear with 6000 miles on it and it still looks new, I have an avon on the front. Both were put on at the same time.:D

Thanks, but my car doesn't need tires.

Just kidding, but there's some new tricks I'm just too old to try.

CanberraR3 brought up the Standard/Classic/Roadster applications in a manner that an intellectually challenged child can understand. Now, notwithstanding that that framing might be over the head of a distinct minority here, why concern ourselves with such "casual readers'" shortcomings? Hey, it's not like we haven't a history of errant, randomized and/or directionless threads here before, is it. Hans?:D
I was having a laugh ya silly bugger as this was one of many Threads started about a Touring issue and then you get some of us silly buggers that go and get it a tad of topic GPMAZ saw thru it I just thought it funny as there was a couple of guys getting confused So I thought I would throw a line in and I caught myself a big fish.... :pyep you:p:D
Others probally had a good laught as I am as guilty as anyone here for getting "Off Topic":) even in my Own Threads :D:rolleyes: Oh and I used the term "casual reader" instead of "Newbie Reader" as I was not wanting to Offend anyone:)

I would imagine the case for a lower profile front tyre would be pretty much the same regardless of bike model. Entirely appropriate to bring it up on a thread about bike tyres, even on the Touring forum. Ditto with the general notion of mixing brands.

The off topic comments where the ones about car tyres. I'm at a complete loss as to why anyone would want to brag about doing something stupid like that, but that's me. Ha ha. Just having a laugh. ;)

I understand, I felt just like you until I tried it. Even rode the dragon on it and couldn't tell the difference.

I'm needing a front. Would like to go with Bridgestone if it is worth it. I have 10k on my Rear Bridgestone Potenza Runflat and still looks new. Love it. Running 40PSI and never slips in hard acceleration even in twisties. I use to build tires. If you are darkside. Go Runflat or don't go. Side wall thickness is the difference.:D

Harry,

Did you try the Bridgestones? if so how to they compare to Avons?

Haven't gotten around to replacing them yet. Was riding the KLR for awhile until I broke a couple of ribs on the **** thing (well technically, off the **** thing). I don't ride a lot in the middle of summer but I'll replace them before a trip to the Salt Flats in October.
