Hanso, there is a world of difference between a touring and a sport crusier, a touring bike is a standar bike with winshield and saddle bags, a sport touring is a sports bike with taller bars, often with the same undiluted power as the ****** rocket they derived from, :)

VMAX has convinced some folks that it's a cruiser, but it sure as hell can't pretend to be a tourer. Is any production tourer as fast as the R3T? I've got a feeling that the correct answer is a resounding "HELL NO!"

Well, I guess it's necessary to define the term "touring" since anybody can modify it at will (e.g., "wheelie touring"). To me, a touring bike allows a mature full-sized rider and a mature full-sized passenger to ride all day for several days without pain and to carry the necessities for the trip. "Fast" means 0-60, 1/4 mile.

Is that a way to say two old fat people?

For normal sized folks, the 1400 Connie and the BMW K1600 are likely the winners. The R3T is only the winner in a very limited definition of touring bike. Hell, back in the day a duffel bag strapped to a Triumph 650 turned it into a touring bike.

No, that's a way to say you can't call it a touring bike if only small people under 40 who love to play Twister can enjoy it on real trips.

I'm pretty far north of 60 and north of 6'2" and I'll still take the BMW K1600 for the win.

But the R3T's paid for and the BMW is north of 20K. If I was buying another bike, it wouldn't be another cruiser. This one is my first and likely my last. Comfortable, yes, exciting, only in a straight line and then only up to around 110, after that she runs out of steam and with that barn door piece of plastic strapped to the fork its probably for the best.

I haven't ridden a 1600 so I can't judge its comfort (though a guy over 6' and over 40 and his passenger on a Concours would seem to me to be miserable after several hours on the road). Do you know the 1/4 mile and 0-60 numbers for a R3T and a 1600?

From what I've heard the K1600 runs low 11's and sub 3 second 0-60. With 160 crank horsepower and 750 lbs it will run away and hide from the R3T I'd suspect. Remember a stock R3T dynos at around 90-100 horsepower while the BMW puts something like 130 to the rear wheel.
