R3T--Fastest Production Touring Bike On Earth?

After watching that video...I would almost say that the GW would chew that BMW up on those type of roads and I am speaking of the GW I rode back in 2008 (a 2006 non-ABS model but with NAV). Now my recollections on how fast that GW was may be a little hazy but I know at one point I had the GW up at 131 mph (on the speedo...with error probably around 122 mph) and then I slacked off as since the GW was so quiet I hadn't realized I was going that fast...and I had a good amount of throttle left to use. On a straight way I am far more willing to admit that the BMW would be able to stay a good distance ahead of the GW. Then again...maybe that rider on the BMW was more cautious than I would have been and wasn't using the BMW's full capabilities.

For now...I am riding the Rocket 3 Touring and am very happy with it, since, as several have mentioned in this post and others, the amount of time we are traveling in excess of 90 mph is kind of limited...the speed range of the Touring suits me fine...call it old age or whatever but I am pretty happy with this bike and what it does for me.

Its horses for course , If i was to go out and start tomoro , i think just for myself riding solo , i would probably buy a Trophy or the bmw 1600 for long distance touring , and pull it out for anything over 300 klm .. comfort being the main issue .
I would keep , my adventure bike for day rides under say 200 klm or maybee get rid and buy a harley

But given i do some 2 up riding The trophy and any other sports tourer , are no good the missis would struggle getting on and off , so that leaves the cruiser style , and after owning a honda , a vulcan , a harley and even the thunderbird , the rt3 is by far the best for 2 up riding and touring , more comfort , more power , and for nice easy riding that torque is un beatable , so like it or not , the missis says its comfortable and its staying , and my second bike , is the one i have to change .

But i've done a lot of klm touring on mine and its very very comfortable ,especielly with the riders backrest and touring seat

Most powerful touring bike, sure - or at least, it has easy potential to hit 240+ horses with just a moderate infusion of cash, comparatively speaking. But as others have said, for Touring purposes raw power means very little. It's hard to beat the Gold Wing in that segment, and the bike is even fast as hell when you ride it to the hilt. I'd like to think it wouldn't outrun an R3T if the latter was in capable hands, but Honda have really created a great bike that's made to haul all that plastic as a matter of course. Even though they put footpegs on the Gold Wing which would suck for any kind of distance, I love having the ability to move my feet around.

 
WELL I already beat a 1600 BMW with my stock 120 HP classic and I was suprised SO a stock touring with just a good exhaust and a retune will give you 165+ rear wheel hp and it will beat the BMW As they only make 130 to the rear wheel And theres nothing you can do to the BMW to improve the performance the R3T you can even do a modded engine and make 270 +HP if you really want to beat anything that comes along

They considered my old 2003 Honda F4i 600cc a sport touring bike. They aren't anything like a touring bike.

Sometimes i think bike companies use the word "touring" to help keep insurance rates down.

In my opinion if the bike has a lot of heavy chrome, bags of some description, a windshield or fairing and although not necessary you could even throw a beer box on the back.

I beleive then you have yourself a touring cruiser
