And I'm still stuck -- Toshiba Satellite laptop -- thought I would nail it with the "Show hidden devices" -- and no hidden devices are shown.

I did note that that the FTDI driver allows one to assign a COM port, and when I did so, I see a message that "COM 3 is taken". So when I launch Tune ECU, it's locked on COM 3, but so far, I've found nothing in the operating system to show me COM 3, much less manipulate it.
I've loaded tuneecu on a few machines and you shouldn't have to assign a com port. You can use any open USB slot. The drivers provide the interface to the program. When the drivers are loaded correctly and you plug it in to a USB port, the driver will tell the program where the cable is.

Did you load the driver under USB serial bus controllers as well as under ports (com & LPT)?

For some reason, Tune ECU on this machine is "locked" hard on COM 3. And all I do with the driver is run the execute package, and it comes up with a message at the end saying ready for use, and finished. So I don't know what it means to be installed correctly. And I'm at a loss to find COM 3 on the device list, and clearly, it's in there somewhere.

First off thank you. I am new to all this but always looking for more power on my bike. Is there anyone near houston tx that i can pay and hook up with so they can show me how to do this.

at this point i would just down load the app to my phone and use a micro usb male to usb female adapter and go that route. unfortunately the app costs a around 13 bucks. but so much easier to run on a smart phone.

Yeah, I cheaped out on getting it since I already had it running just fine on my old Netbook PC, but in the grand scheme of things if you ask a Harley rider if he'd be willing to pay $12-something dollars to get 30 hp more, 10 more torque and a great diagnostic tool in the bargain I'd suspect they'd leap at it... as opposed to spending thousands of dollars for 10 or 20 more hp.

I may get it myself now just because the TuneECU guys *hugely* deserve some income from the program, and they've left the Windows version free and refuse to sell it to any commercial interests which also speaks highly of their character and integrity.

Plus, it might be fun to get a Bluetooth adapter for the bike and have diagnostics running on the smartphone while riding...

@Joesmoe I wasn't aware there for a while that your cable wasn't a known good one, which might explain some things. It absolutely has to be one that is built around the FTDi chipset to work reliably on these bikes and the Android app I suspect. The Lonelec one is.

Hello fellow Rocket pilots, I had an '07 Classic that was taken out by a drunk driver, she was stock and I loved her. I purchased a 2014 Touring model, I knew that the power wouldn't be the same but I am really disappointed with the difference. I am looking to just get it to near what the '07 had.
The dealer offers a "Sport Tune" , does anyone know what it does?
I don't want to get a do it yourself remap unless I really have to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get Tor or D&D mufflers, a K&N air filter and install the Power Trip Tune for touring. Links on this forum. It will wake it up a lot. The Tune your dealer will install is next to useless, I had it done.

^^^^

With TORS, Ramair and a decent tune set up on a dyno I am getting 132hp and 148 ft/lb torque out of my R3T.

I think it would be something you will need to do if you want to wake it up.
