R3R PCV or Tuneboy?!!?

Hello all,
just got my R3R back from the dyno. 156 ftlb torque 144 bhp. im running jardines KN airfilter and a PCV. aparenty the R3R has a speed limiter that starts cutting power at 5300 rpm. the tunner said that the pcv (power camander V) could not bypass this adjustment.is the tuneboy able to bypass the speed limiter? i know my 05 r3 doesnt have this problem. i get power until it redlines at 7600rpm in any gear with a pc111. i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with tuning the roadster and if so, should go with the tuneboy over the pcv.. any info will be greatly appreciated!

I can tell you that my 06 Classic had the same problem. It had a speed limiter built in from the factory at around 125 mph and the PC III wasn't able to by pass it. I "HAD" to go with the TB to be able to remove the speed limiter and to correct the speedo. I love the simplicity of the PC III but it has its limitations. I was hoping that the new PC V would allow you to remove the speed limiter, correct the timing retard in the first 3 gears and correct the speedometer. But I see no luck. I have been hearing about some new free programer but my bike is running so well I hate to mess with it. You know the old saying " If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The GiPro was supposed to eliminate the speed limiter on all bikes, but it didn't on T's bike. It worked on mine and I've buried the speedo for a top end just past 150 with an oversize windscreen and bags. Some guys have complained that the pro didn't change their top end so I won't say to go that route.

Try tuneECU since it's free and see if you can just adjust the speed limiter without changing the fuel/air mix that you just spent money on having dyno'd.

I just had my 05 tuned with a pcIII I'm loving the power 126 HP at rear wheel and torque more than their dyne could measure. No speed limiter issues either
Now my question is brakes. Has anyone done a brembo conversion or any other brake upgrades?

Warp and Hombre are your best bet for brake info, I know that Hombre has converted his to some outlandish extreme.

No need for tuneboy, buy a $10 cable off of ebay and use TuneEcu for free.

+1 on TuneECU. Neither Tuneboy or TuneECU "eliminates" the speed limiter. You can reset the limit to +200 mph and you've effectively eliminated the speed limiter.

TuneECU = free. Just a $10-$15 cable off fleabay.

T if you still have my e-mail address send me a copy of your tune I will raise the rev limiter to 7300 for you plus I will have a look at the speed limiter as you can set that to 500 kph or higher.
Trump,The roadster has one at 125 due to the H rated tires are you using Tuneedit V4 on yours. let me look around as I might have something to remedy the problem. I often wondered if you could install a R3T tune in the Roadster as they have the same ECU and the Tune Boy program for the R3T allows you to raise it higher then the Roadster.

Hellfire if your speedo has not been corrected then 145 is actually 134.8 and 150 is actually 139.5. The speedo is off in two ways first deliberately by Tiumph by 7 % second like the tachometer its accuracy decreases as the needdle rises. This is a signal loss thru the wire and in the stepper motor error in the speedo its self. like 8300 on the tachometer is only about 7800 in reality. Hombre has confirmed this with his beast. A GPS will show you the difference but at that speed you should be carefull as watching the road is much more important. Walt used a HUDS display for better visual as to whats happening at high speeds.



Hell fire I know we don't always see eye to eye but be careful with the windshield at them speeds as the wrong gust of wind can create the death wobble. I have had smooth runs up there but I also have had the wobble. once I remove the widshield to play up at them speeds I do not get the wobble. I have noticed with taller shocks more weight is on the front end which helps stabilize it. I am going to order the little sports screen to see how it reacts up there. Also you can run a different front tire size like a 140 Mtz or a nice 130 in various models like the Shinko these are lower profile like 70 along with the smaller width will lower the front end and make it react quicker in the twistie's I think Hombre went with a 120 Michilen and said it was a great tire.I have a 120 Conti Race Attack I am going to try on mine. and when I am not so worried about having a high speed rating I will switch to a 130 V rated. I think you can find some 130 W rated front tire also. the

There is no way in hell I'd attempt those speeds with a stock Triumph windscreen, way too thin. I'm running a CeeBaily Aircraft acrylic plastic much thicker than the Triumph part. I know the speedo is off, but more than 10mph at that speed is hard to swallow. I went over this issue with MINI "experts" who said a Cooper couldn't reach 135 due to drag ... used a GPS and proved that was hearsay. Guess I'll have to see if it is off that much with GPS sometime.

What kind of dyno was that on, I have a little extra torque myself but still managed to get it measured.
I use 6 pot brakes front & rear.
