R 111T VS the R 111R?

I have read a lot of stuff on all the forms and most of it says that the Tour and the Roaster both have the same engine. So since I own both of them I thought you all might be interested in the Dyno results. I put a PC111, K&N air filter and D&D pipes on the R111T and the same thing on the R111R except I used Triumph off road pipes. Then I had each of them put on the Dyno. The R111T started at 92.8 Max HP and 137.89 Max Torque and after the changes ended up at 101.52 Max HP and 146.91 Max Torque. The R111R started at 122.85 Max HP and 145.05Max Torque and after the change ended up at 130.39 Max HP and 151.72 Max Torque. This all makes me think that there is a major difference somewhere and I know there is a lot of how and what to do to increase the HP and Torque of the R111T. I guess what I would like to know is if the engines are indeed the same then why can’t we just use the Tune from the R111R and put it in the R111T which would give everyone what they are trying to get. I know this will sound stupid to those who really understand why this won’t work but I sure would like to know anyway.
Note: If you think these Numbers look a little low the set up was done at over 6000 feet above sea level

would be interesting to see the charts, because if the torque curves get messier, etc... then it just shows (to me) that the cost and grief (noise, perf characteristics) of your upgrades aren't much worth it... but i'm pretty sure that others will chime in on the subject...

haven't looked into part numbers, but chances are that the ecm and/or the cams are a bit different...

The only part that I have read/heard is different is Throttle Body assembly. From a post Power Tripp made, he mentions the Touring having smaller diameter bodies. This would explain the differences in max HP and location of peak torque on each bike. Even if the engines are identical otherwise, the tunes probably arn't interchangable because they are not co-developed, clearly evident by the differences in hardware where there should not be a difference e.g. Self-Canceling turn signals on the R3T but not on the R3R.

Guages and electronics are different, but motors are identical. First I've heard of throttle body differences, same K&N filters fit both, so IDK about that. Did you load a different tune after mods? I got 241 hp after Carpenter mods, same as Standards and Roadsters get, If I recall Bob said he got it on the second or 3rd run, which he said was excellent.

Those numbers sound pretty lame, considering. Power-tripp apparently got more than that by just improving on the stock ECU map; I run that map on mine and the difference easily felt like I did get +30hp and all that without changing anything.

Replacing the slipons will do little for the R3T since - again, according to Power-tripp who should know - the constriction of the exhaust happens before that. The slipons basically change the noise. In order to see numbers like the R3R you need to get the engine to breathe as well as the R3R which means full replacement of the exhaust system with something like the now discontinued Jardines. As Tripps says, once you eliminate the bottlenecks you can easily make an R3T into a monster, so clearly the engines are identical, just differently programmed and with different exhaust and air intakes.

The R3R maps will be adapted for the R3R hardware so just dropping one of those into an R3T probably wouldn't work all that well.

Motex Pro on ebay have a replacement crossover pipe that with the Tors looks like a good set-up. It is in Australia and shipping will be expensive.

After talking to a couple of knowledgeable people the last couple of weeks I have found out the PC is just to adjust fuel. For max power you need to get in the ECU and change the timing as well as fuel.

Here is a copy of the Dyno sheets. I had installed the pipes, air filter and the PC 111 before he started so the first numbers are with all that installed and the second numbers are after he mapped it. It is amazing to ride them one after the other and see just how much more R111R has, but adding the pipes air filter and tune to the R111T makes a bunch of difference. All the info is a great help I am going to look into the cross over pipe and see about the ECU change on the R11T.
I just can't have one of those HD's giving me a run for the money if you know what I mean.

En till you get in the ecu you will not make them the same I have had both at the same time done both mods same dyno same results or with in 1 or 2 hp and tq but I dont have to prove it door is always open for a r3r to come spank my butt at drag night to show me I'm not right now if it has the carp kit or turbo ya I'm not going to hang but other then that the r3t will be there at the end so even if there different motors I still get the same hp or more then my r3r but hell who really cares dont see many guys out on the strip running them every week so tune it or dont just ride the **** thing and enjoy it
