Quebec motorcyclest caught doing 185 kph

A Harley going 105?
I think the cop was to embarrassed to say how slow he was actually going.
The Illinois State Police hardlys will do upwards of 115 on a straight and they get their quick, don't ask me how I know... lucky for or me the R3 has a couple of gears left to work with... their sh1t ain't stock...

Here is the best example of stupid....

WELLAND, Ont. -- A Welland man had his motorcycle impounded and is facing nine traffic offences after being caught driving 161 km/h in a 50 km/h zone Thursday afternoon.

Police said the man was going 111 km/h over the posted speed limit along the Welland Canal Parkway. Welland is located in the Niagara region.

“It's ridiculously dangerous,” said Sgt. Jacqueline Fuentes, of the Niagara Regional Police's traffic unit. “This person was doing 161 km/h, which is faster than any vehicle should ever travel. It's just unbelievable.”

Fuentes said the stunt was especially dangerous because of the Parkway's proximity to the canal path, which is often filled with cyclists, runners and kids.

The 45-year-old man was charged with stunt driving, driving while suspended, speeding, driving with no insurance, not having a valid permit and other traffic offences.

The stunt driving charge, for anything over 50km/h over the speed limit, carries with it an automatic seven-day license suspension and the vehicle is impounded for seven days. The maximum conviction for the stunt driving charge is $10,000, loss of up to six demerit points and possible jail time.

James Foldenauer, 39, got his motorcycle to speeds of up to 188 mph in an August 2009 chase.

According to the Des Moines Register, Foldenauer was riding a 2003 Suzuki Hayabusa.

Police vehicles couldn't keep up with him on the ground, so they had to follow him in the air in an Iowa State Patrol airplane.

Here's the Iowa State record, seriously crazy!

If they wanted me to keep my speed down tbey should not have installed a Speedo that goes into triple digits!

Don't give the governments of the world any ideas, they may just make laws that make it impossible for any road-going vehicle go go past 120 km/h. And then, they'll mandate a GPS based speed nanny that takes over and drops your speed to match the speed limit.

Believe me - they already have the idea. Progressive insurance already employs a device they call the Snapshot. It transmits data on the insured's driving habits to the company, which then sets the rates depending on multiple factors (though, they say that exceeding the speed limit isn't one of the factors). http://www.progressive.com/auto/snapshot-common-questions/

Orwell wasn't as far-fetched as we thought. The go-to-jail threshold in Florida is 50mph over (not unreasonable, actually). I recently got nabbed for 38 in a 25, so I'm being a little more careful. I can afford the attorney, but don't want to bugger my insurance rate.

Gotta be careful about those small town/village speed traps. 13 over? A lot less likely to get stopped for 78 in a 65 on the Turnpike . . . . .

Yeah, I was leaving work in Plantation and took a shortcut through a residential area to get to the turnpike. A lot of people have found the shortcut now and the residents complained. Pretty sure they've nabbed people for 50+ as well. PPD motorjockey, he was professional and easy going, he let me slide on my expired insurance card and I'd left my registration at home as well.
