Hi everyone, I had to change my ECU after it died on me when I was on the road. So bought a second hand from ebay and uploaded the same map from my old ECU. Also when I plugged in TuneECU noticed the TPS probs which I had to reset and synchronised throttle bodies 2,3 to match 1. After I done all of that above I went for a spin. At the start it was all ok that day did about 40 miles. Next day I went for a longer ride and after 10 miles it all started. It is almost impossible to ride it in a steady phase it is cutting off and popping very badly. What I noticed that she runs ok when engine is cold. Any ideas guys???

Did you do the 12 minute tune? What exhaust, what intake, what tune are you using?

Yes Dougl I did. K&N air filter under the seat. Stock exhaust but 3 into 2 no cat.
What I don't understand is, if I uploaded a map (20227) from my old ECU why she's not runing the same as before because nothing else has changed?

So you have the cat bypass orvan empty cat? Maybe you could get the 20227 map from the TuneECU site and put it in the bike, reset adaptations, and redo the 12 minute tune. Since everything is stock, the O2 sensor box should be checked. There are 2 things that changed. You have a diiferent ECU and you changed the TPS settings.

Thanx Dougl, cat bypass ( I think)

Cat bypass as in pic 3:1:2. I'll try to upload an original 20227 map and will see is it goin to work. Thanx for advice Dougl ;) !!!

Ok @Donny , I have a quick question. What buggered the first ECU? If it had something to do with the map you had in the bike being corrupted I would not take a chance at copying it and putting in another ecu. What hex file number (tune) is on the outside of the new ecu and is it a new one or a used one?

Since yours is a 09 or older bike (from the tune number your talking about) I would not be afraid to try the 20220 for the classic if anything the only difference will be the speed limiter. I did check but that is easily lifted if needed. Also if you first did the TPS install and full ISCV reset and then did the throttle bodies did you go back and check the TPS again? Just asking as when you are balancing the throttle bodies You adjust cylinder #1 and #3 to match #2 you are actually moving the TPS unit every time you move the adjustment screw. (it rotates the the main throttle plate shaft) so multiple this time two and there is the possibility of compounding the difference between the primary TPS and the idle stepper motor. If this happens then you just alter zero throttle and the ecu map which is getting a signal from the TPS sensor. Anyway it is nothing to go back and check the ISCV reset after balancing the Throttle bodies. I you end up not having to move the TPS or stepper motor adjustment then your just quickly clicking thru the ISCV reset.

Anyway just a thought. I seen a guy buy a ecu for his 07 which actually ended up being one from a speed triple he loaded his map in it but the bike ran like dung. You might want to check to make sure the ecu is for the rocket just in case you bought a used one.
Hope this helps.

Hi warp9.9, first thank you for your replay ;)!!! Now, my old ECU had a water damage. For some reason previous owner opened it and did not sealed it properly. A new ECU I bought on Ebay I double checked it few times before I bought it. The map number on ECU is 020050 but I'm not a 100% sure because it is all faded. Also when I balanced throttle bodies I adjusted #2 and #3 to match #1 because I only found screws for those T.Bodies. And I did a throttle bodies sync first than TPS following 12 min tune.

Can't speak to the throttle bodies or TPS. 20050 was the first generation bone stock tune, at least that I'm aware of, when TuneBoy first came out for the Rocket in about 2006. The 20227 tune (which was one of the next generation of Triumph tunes) should work. Does your bike have a catalytic converter or a bypass pipe? Look underneath. The 20227 tune is for stock muffler and an empty cat box. The box should have a "Z" stamped on it. If the box has catalyst in it, it should have a "C" stamped on it.
