Hi Dave, if you like the bike and you feel it is worth the money then buy it. I believe a few early ones had a tolerance issue with the output shaft bearing which finding the root cause took a few months, but the numbers were very minor. If they reached 18k then they were going to be fine. Triumph stood by all of them irrelevant of mileage and numbers of owners (pretty good I thought) and there won't be any of them left now.
I have an 05. Have done exhaust mod, cat delete, all the intake plenums and bull**** discarded for some K&N pods and a remap, a big difference and I give it hell. Only done 36k because I also have several classic bikes I ride. I have NEVER had a mechanical or electrical issue of any description, these are GREAT bikes. Ride carefully and get used to it, the torque is huge.
