Oil tank temp gauges - cheap as

.

You must be younger than the rest of us Mick

Convert Fahrenheit to Celsius

℃ = (℉ - 32) / 1.8

or

C = (℉ - 32) x 5 / 9

Odd that the formula shown mixes decimals and fractions, I learned it as 9/5, not 1.8

Anyone that doesn't use good old red blooded American Fahrenheit is a bit suspect anyway.

The one I linked is in Celsius, I prefer Celsius as well unless we’re talking weather, then Fahrenheit it is.

A quick glance down will let you see it, but, I’m more interested in seeing this for oil weight reasons.

As a black one this one should work, measurements are very close, ordering, will verify if it does or doesn’t fit.

Agreed with the first statement but not the second Celsius is MUCH easier to work with and far more logical. Freezing is 0 and boiling 100 vs -32 and 212 WTF

I made up the second version after reading the top formula online and who the heck can divide a 2 or 3 digit number by 1.8 quickly in their head - not me! Obviously for the calculator only user!
But break it down with 4th grade math into easy head calculations and I got:

C = (℉ - 32) x 5 / 9

Which seemed awfully familiar and easy to flip the conversion the other way..

according to my calculations i would shut the engine down at 240 degrees and that would be at 115 degrees c
the red line starts at 120 c and at 248
i would be curious at what temp our oil starts to steam (for lack of a better word)
i put trans fluid on a camp stove (in an open area i know not to bright) and at 250 degrees it started to break down, that was a long time ago and it was not synthetic.

I have cousins my age in England, they were just the right age when the switch came that they can think in Fahrenheit or Celsius equally, without actually doing the math.
