I changed oil and the level is high. Will this hurt the bike since it sits in the tank? Thanks in advance for the help.

Depends on how high. If it's just over the limit you should be ok especially after a run or two when it might drop a bit but if it's considerably so, as the tank's easy to access, suck some out with a syringe or similar.

I changed the oil not to long ago and went by the manual exactly to check it. It says to:

1. Allow the engine to idle for one minute, then stop

the engine.

2. Remove the filler cap/dipstick from the oil tank,

wipe the dipstick clean and refit the filler cap,

pushing it fully home.

Of course make sure the bike is up on straight and not on the side stand.
I did just that and the oil was high so I siphoned some out and did it all over again until I got the level correct. Then after riding the bike for a while the oil level was low! So talking with other R3 owners as long as you check it and it isn't VERY high you are good. If if is to high it will plow out the oil cap/dipstick. If after riding it for awhile check it periodically. I have gotten where I just look in the tank and if I see oil close to the top then it's good. I can't figure out what the best method is but as long as I see oil in the tank while the bike is cold, hot, just shut it off etc then it's good.

I followed the manual and it was still high, guess I will ride for awhile and check it again. Thanks

On the touring after getting the oil level correct ,I put the bike on the side stand and looked into the oil tank and noted the level,(just covering the baffle ) and this is how I check the level, the oil level is hard to see on the shiny dipstick with clean oil.

You got that right! It's tough to check the oil until it gets a little dirty. I touch the dipstick to a paper towel to see where the oil is at on the stick. Also, I think the bike needs to be rode for a bit before checking the oil level. That minute warmup doesn't do it for getting all the oil up to the tank. It will seem low sometimes until everything is hot. A little over won't hurt...a lot is not recommended.

I have almost 4800 miles on my Rocket so far and it has yet to use any oil. It always read to the full mark on the dipstick so checking my oil is not a big deal. Anyone else having this kind of results?
