I had the pleasure of speaking with the Triumph Rep for about an hour a few weeks ago at the local dealer. He had just come from a big company meeting. Triumph is undergoing a complete line up overhaul. They expect every bike they have to be revised by 2018 to 2020. As you can see with the new Bonneville line, some good things are coming our way. We spent quite a lot of time talking about the Rocket. He told me Triumph wanted to know if the Rocket should be dropped. He said they had an in depth discussion about it. The outcome was NO. It will be redesigned. The final design had not been decided yet. I use this as an opportunity to tell him what we talk about. I told him about the 2500 cc engine I had heard about they have tested. He didn't respond to that. I also told him we see 4 bikes well at least 3 bikes in the Rocket. I used the Thunderbird as an example. (BTW: He said the T-Bird is going to be dropped.) Anyway I told him we would like a standard as is today, a light tour with bags and screen, a full blown cross country touring bike with all the bells and whistles like a Gold Wing and even my idea of a Triumph Trailer to go with it and then of course we need a full blown, I mean BLOWN hooligan bike. We talked about features. I said there is no reason they all can't have a tachometer and cruise control. He then wanted to know if we think these bike should only cost $15,000 and how much would we be willing to pay for these bikes. I told him we would pay what they cost. Just be competitive in the market.
I forgot to add the rep said the Rocket will most likely have an all new frame.
